Not sure if 4x is much in demand these days, but the game Shores of Hazeron recent did a galaxy reset. Massive sandbox involving building worlds, exploring multiple galaxies and engaging in PvE or optional PvP.
Think No Man's Sky with inferior graphics, but overall better gameplay and the ability to design your own races, buildings and starships.
