I have about 4-5 items that seem to be made of incorrect material. Specifically vultite shield inspects as wood, imflass mbp inspects as steel, and similar. Should I just bugitem them all? Or assist? Also I have a "a miner's axe" the extra space is not a typo...should I assist or bugitem that one?

I'd put in an assist.

I had a, for many years, a wooden (modwir) OHB that inspected as mace, but didn't have a normal name for a mace weapon. It was some old critter weapon weapon that I thought looked fun since I had not seen it before as a weapon name. I took it, enchanted it up from the natural -10 to +25 (considered a 7x enchantment for it) and had the weapon for years in my locker.

One day I decided to use it. Took it out and started swinging it....it felt like it hit a bit soft/weak for a mace. I inspected it again, inspected as mace.

I started swinging it at creatures with known armor types and none of the AvD were matching up with what a mace should have. Come to find out the weapon actually swings like a cudgel and not a mace. I bugged the item in game a handful of times over the course of a few years and it never changed. It always inspected as a mace, but hit like a cudgel. The weapon name wasn't anything a cudgel was named, either. Without using inspect, you'd wouldn't know what it was. It should have been a mace, but it wasn't.

The weapon ended up selling out of my player shop some time back.

Long story short; assist. Bug item of minuscule things doesn't seem to get them fixed. Hopefully you'll get a GM's attention so they change the items for you.

vultite shield inspects as wood

Not 100% certain, but I would guess this may be an older, pre-materials, shield... I think back in GS3-days, all shields were made of wood, even though they had other materials in their descriptions. (Or, I may be mistaken, and it's something else entirely.)

What are the exact descriptions on them? Sometimes I find items with metals in the description but aren't really metal and it makes sense. Like a vultite-banded shield shouldn't really be made of vultite, it just has vultite bands or reinforcements on it.

a rust-eaten dull imflass breastplate
Your careful inspection of a rust-eaten dull imflass breastplate allows you to conclude that it is plate armor that covers the torso only.
You determine that you could wear the breastplate around your chest. The breastplate appears to serve some purpose.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of steel.
Careful examination indicates the dull imflass breastplate has a base strength of 80 and a base durability of 515. You also determine the current integrity of the dull imflass breastplate to be at 100.0%.
You heft the breastplate a few times, but learn nothing more about it.

small black vultite target shield--landing rogue guild?
Your careful inspection of a small black vultite target shield allows you to conclude that it is a medium shield that protects the bearer if carried in the left hand.
You determine that you could wear the shield, slinging it across your shoulders and back. The shield appears to serve some purpose.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of wood.
Careful examination indicates the vultite target shield has a base strength of 60 and a base durability of 195. You also determine the current integrity of the vultite target shield to be at 100.0%.
You heft the shield a few times, but learn nothing more about it.

One is imflass brig that inspects as imflass...didn't know rigid leather could be made from metal.

Cant locate the other descriptions at the moment.

I'll put in an assist when I get home, hopefully itll be handled before bedtime

Also imflass can never rust or become dull as per official description on Simu’s website.

I still have a "razor sharp filet knife" from back in the day that inspects as a dagger but has the AvD of a broadsword.
