maybe this will encourage them to create some new titles instead of rehashing the same crap over and over.

Madden 2006 anyone?

I'd buy madden 06 when it comes out.... But didn't they just recently sign a contract with MLB to corner the baseball market?

I'd imagine the fact that ESPN offers a pro sports game for every major sport EA sports does for 20 bucks instead of the 50 EA sports wants might have something to do with it.

And the fact that nothing significantly new has been done in terms of graphics or gameplay since Madden 2001.

Just curious if you've even played any of the post-2001 Maddens...

"That's ignorant"

They have added quite a bit to the gameplay since 2001. Not to mention they consistently make the game more handsome each year.

But ESPN putting out $20 sports games has put the pressure on EA no doubt.

I think he wants to add a doubles tennis match of each set of starting safeties from teams whose city names begin with a vowel.

That would be significant.

That's funny, because my buddy just got hired at EA's Orlando office as a producer for their Tiger Woods game.

Madden 2006 anyone?

If you read the article, you'd see the newer titles are what failed to reach expectations and hurt their sales.

EA Sports has the exclusive rights to NFL Teams (or maybe it was the Players Association) next year.

ESPN isn't even putting out a football game next year, I've been told.

Tiger Woods game is tits.

I wish I had a creative mind and could work in that field. That would be awesome.

Hehehe.

And yeah, Tiger Woods is a good game.

I'm not a fan of their sports games, but I can say for certain that their Medal of Honor series is steadily going down hill. Nothing has been nearly as good as Allied Assault and Pacific Assault and Rising Sun have been sub-par as well.

Not only that, but their games seem to be consistantly buggy when released. Their recent release (Battle for Middle-Earth) wasn't the huge hit they were expecting (great game, but it could have been so much better) due to the fact that it seemed rushed. This doesn't come as a surprise.

opening fucking paragraph of article in question.

LOS ANGELES (CNN/Money) - Electronic Arts, the world's largest video game publisher, on Monday warned that quarterly profits would miss targets because older games were not selling as well as expected in North America and Europe and hardware shortages were cutting into sale

followed shortly by,

New releases were unable to offset a 'significant falloff' in sales of older, catalogue games, the company said.

But I'm the one who can't read eh sunshine?

Hulkein

I didn't say you couldn't read, I said you should read.

I was talking about this paragraph.

Similarly, titles released in the fourth quarter did not live up to expectations. The company specifically cited lower than expected sales of its "Need for Speed" and "NFL Street" franchises.

I doubt older catalogue games refer to Madden, as it's their biggest seller.

I was thinking of the games Arkans mentioned.

The first NFL street was cool. The sequal didn't interest me in the slightest. more rehashing of same shit. Need for speed I'm not as familiar with, but isn't it multiple sequals as well?

I agree they make some of the best sports games, I completely addicted to College Football, and if they made a better version of College Basketball I'd be down with that also. A

ll I ask is for more new ideas.

Also, the problem with EA is that there is SO much competition in the shooter market. Nobody in their right mind will buy the Medal of Honor Battle Chest when they can snag a copy of Call of Duty, the Call of Duty expansion, and the consol release. They have far better multi-player as well as solo play experiences.

Arkans is right. With the exception of their EA Sports line, pretty much all their games are knock-offs of better games on the market. Call of Duty pwns Medal of Honor these days. Battle for Middle Earth still isn't a patch on War3 and a host of other strat games. Oh well.
