Thinking of using skinning to supplement my silver. Question is, at what point does skinning become worth it. Seems to me, five ranks of survival is not worth the tps. However, if I .5x survival, will I be able to skin for some good coin? What critters have nice pelts. Does FA still factor into skinning? Which skills affect chance of skinning versus value of skin?

FA factors into skinning as much as Survival does. You'll be able to skin fairly well at 1x in each. But success won't come until you've got say 50 ranks in each. As for decent critters to skin...thats something you'll have to figure out for yourself.

yeah my level 52 rogue has 198/208(or something close) total ranks, 104 FA and 94 survival

basically at 3x is where it becomes worthwhile. you wont have an issue successfully skinning, and your quality will be higher end most of the time

i used a fixskills on friday afternoon to add in skinning, and since then i've made 2.3mil. and that was 2 hours worth friday night, and between hunts throughout sat/sun

so to me, it is well worth the TPs spent to be a little less accurate on the hide/ambush side, and be able to push up my silver intake. now all i need is some trading...

I'm currently bringing up a little empath on the side to see what I can do with it. He's 13 now and I started counting his skins vs botches @ lvl 11 (shoulda started at 0 but forgot about the count feature of psinet). Currently he's at:

1. You have currently found the string "You skinned" 624 times.
2. You have currently found the string "You botched" 53 times

And I would say 30+ of those botches come from when I left him with wounds on his hands/head.

Being halfling doesn't mean shit when you have 250 ranks in FA.

Nope, elf. I made him an elf because of the bonus to selling things in Illistim which is where he will stay. That bonus + 2x trade, 1x perception, 3x FA, 1x survival = over 400k at lvl 13. And that's just doing basic hunting no real cash hunting so I'm happy thus far.
