I'm bored between hunts. The RP interaction where I am isn't too hot at the moment.

So. .

Sometimes you can't make it on your own - U2
Reminds me of a girl in London who stuck with me.
I'll remember you

What precisely are you fellows meaning by "cut you in half"?

StrayRogue

I'd took it as songs that emotionally effect you.

Asha
03-21-2005, 10:14 AM
Basicly . .
Songs that make you think '' Shit, that's seriously affecting.''
Ones you listen to when you need to wallow in being down, and pissed off.
Doesn't happen often. But when it does , it's nice to let it wash over you.

And for some reason "The Frail" has that effect on me, even though it's an instrumental. I don't know, dramatic piano?

Others are tear jerking country songs:

Tim McGraw - Don't take the Girl (http://cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/mcgraw-tim/dont-take-the-girl-7048.html)
Brad Paisley - He didn't have to be (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/paisley-brad/he-didnt-have-to-be-7456.html) (my step-brother played it at his wedding for my dad)

Harry Chapin could really write a song.

Geatest Stories Live still makes a regular appearance in the CD player. It's kinda creepy to hear our 4 year old sing 'all my life's a circle, sunrise and sundown'

Chapin was fun to see live because he played in nice small venues.

In My Daughters Eyes - Martina McBride

I heard it for the first time when I was pregnant with my daughter (and knew she was going to be a girl) and it makes me cry every time I hear it:

In my daughters eyes
I am a hero
I am strong and wise
And I know no fear

But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I want to be
In my daughters eyes

In my daughters eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace

This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughters eyes

When she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh and puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It’s hanging on when your heart has had enough
It’s giving more when you feel like giving up
I’ve seen the light
It’s in my daughter’s eyes

In my daughters eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am
And what will be

And though she’ll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I’m gone I hope you’ll see
How happy she made me

And I’ll be there
In my daughters eyes.

VNV Nation - Forsaken (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=38575).
It started out as an instrumental, but then someone who I suppose was a close friend/relative or the lead singer died and, at a concert, he sang lyrics with it. You can really feel the raw emotion of the song, and I find it impossible not to be effected.

Assemblage 23 - Disappoint (http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=5126)

Comin' Back to Me - Jefferson Airplane (from the sountrack of Girl Interrupted)

The summer had inhaled
And held its breath too long.
The winter looked the same,
As if it had never gone,
And through an open window,
Where no curtain hung,
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

One begins to read between
The pages of a look.
The sound of sleepy music,
And suddenly, you're hooked.
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

You came to stay and live my way,
Scatter my love like leaves in the wind.
You always say that you won't go away,
But I know what it always has been,
It always has been.

A transparent dream
Beneath an occasional sigh...
Most of the time,
I just let it go by.
Now I wish it hadn't begun.
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

Strolling the hill,
Overlooking the shore,
I realize I've been here before.
The shadow in the mist
Could have been anyone -
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

Small things like reasons
Are put in a jar.
Whatever happened to wishes,
Wished on a star?
Was it just something
That I made up for fun?
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

No problem. If there's one thing country songs are good at - it's getting a wide range of feelings out of people.

CMT's site is pretty decent too. Not too many sites that put almost every artist's video on the net to view. And almost every country song on the radio has a video for it.

My boyfriend, Bill, pulled the car over to the side of the road and just sat there, dumbfounded, staring at me. Cat reminded me of musicals and I got all misty-eyed thinking about it.

Someone Like You - Jekyll & Hyde
On My Own - Les Miz
I'd Give My Life For You and Please - Miss Saigon

Yeah mostly musicals do it to me. Can't recall of any regular songs that affect me in the same way.

I know I've said it before but it needs to be said again.

Get your heart broken, drink 2 bottles of wine, smoke a pack of camel lights.
Then crack on Purple Rain - Prince.

I think it's time I did that again. Lifes calling for some 'me' time.

Yeah musicals like that kick ass. I'm a fan of This is the moment from Jekyll and Hyde as well to the list you made though it doesn't sadden me it's just one of my favorite songs.

Nutshell - Alice in chains, upsets me pretty bad. I miss Layne so much when I listen to it.

But my favourite ( Nutshell is a close second ) is Shame In You - taken from their last album.
Flick that on and relax through a wonderful, soothing song.

Artha got it right when he said dissapoint...

Shear's vocals on a song that means so much to him in strict discord with the dance beat...

Then there is pretty much everything off of Stabbing Westward's Darkest Days, especially Sometimes it Hurts.

Don't Take The Girl - Tim McGraw
Sgt. McKenzie - Joseph Kilna McKenzie

Nothing says loving like a slow song about how beautiful it is that you ripped the person you adored the most to shreds.

RX Bandits is another band that doesn't get enough attention, IMO.

"What if I told you,
that you're a lovely gal.
And I'd adore you,
If you'd just show me how right now.

What if I told you,
that you're a stupid whore.
And I want nothin',
Your life is such a bore to me."

Good stuff, excellent driving music. Just crank it and goooooooo.

"Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton, and "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" by Boyz II Men.

These songs were played at the funeral for my friend's one year old son. For me, both songs are now associated with an adorable blue-eyed towhead that we lost way too damned soon.
