So this has always baffled me and I’m trying to wrap my head around it.
I’m wearing brig armor. I find some nice enhancive arm greaves so I slap them on. That’s push’s my ASG to chainmail? If so does adding leg greaves on top of that push it to ASG of double chain, and top a helm to be in ASG aug chain?
I’ve never understood how that works and trying to see if adding enhancive armor sub pieces are worth it in lower main armor or not

No. Full coverage armor doesn't get 'bumped up' by accessories.

Generally you want to avoid accessories unless they've got good enhancives or special properties you really want.

Not quite. Accessories can be worn without penalty as long as you are *always* wearing full armor. They are effectively strictly a platform for enhancives.

Thank you both!
So metal greaves won’t effect leather armor if they already have full coverage?
And sounds like I’ll leave off the excess weight until I luck box into something amaze balls. Thank you both

You just repeated the post you were quoting, but with different words.

Also remember that adding armor accessories will always add extra weight that you carry and build up your encumbrance.

Remember it bumps up to your highest covered area too, so if you are in metal breastplate, which only covers torso, and you put on a helm, it'll give you the hindrance of full plate, even if your arms or legs have nothing on them.

Alright, but my question here is do your arms and legs now have invisible full plate coverage? I just don't understand this. At all.

Nope. You get the negative effects, but not the positive ones(CVA, etc..)

You have to remind yourself that we're using Simu logic here.

I always thought it was weird that something like metal breastplate comes with a complementary hauberk.

Also remember if the armor accessory has padding it can halve the padding of your armor if the accessory has lower padding. Hopefully I got that right.

I seem to recall hearing something about armor accessories with flares affecting the flare rate of your primary armor, I want to say cutting it in half.
Another question to toss on the pile: Do armor assecories have the same weird encumberance rules as regular, primary armor when it comes to lightening them below their base weight?

No. Only armor does. When you wear armor, the game negates the weight of it. If your armor base weight is 15 pounds, wearing that armor subtracts 15 pounds from your carry weight.
Armor accessories do not follow the same rule. If leg greaves weigh 7 pounds and you carry them in your container or wear them, you're still carrying 7 pounds of weight.

Is this only with the helm it'd bump you to full plate? Because there is also Augmented Plate and Half plate. If I wear arm greaves, does it only count as an augmented breastplate? And if I wear leg greaves it's then half plate?

If you’re for example wearing light leather (chest only), adding arm greaves would effectively make it full leather. Adding leg greaves would effectively make it into reinforced leather, and throwing on a helm would effectively make it double leather.
Likewise, wearing light leather with just a helm will act like you’re wearing double leather for spell hindrance purposes if I’m not mistaken. Not sure how it applies to maneuver penalties though.

You get maneuvered as if you're wearing the full armor, and have excess encumberance via carry weight along with it.
Basically any drawback you can think of that comes with armor? Accessories have it and then some, but almost none of the benefits.

That sounds about Simu.

Why fix broken/retarded systems when you can pour all resources into Casino expansion?
