What other purpose is there for impeachment?

Well, to try and undo a free and fair election because... Shillary lost? Besides that, you mean?

That also includes removal from office.

It forces Republicans to fully commit and put everything on paper.

I don't think anyone actually expects it to make it through the Senate. I've seen some articles jerking off over secret ballots and such, that won't happen either.

This is assuming that it even passes in the house which is apparently not a certainty.

I cannot help but wonder if strategically it was a poor move by the Democrats since the Republicans get to set the rules for the trial and call whomever they choose to, ie. Hunter Biden, Lisa Page, Peter Strzok, Joe Biden, and god knows whoever else. Just like the dog and pony show in the House, it could be a similar event in the Senate.

I hope so. It will be great TV, and I'm pretty sure the House is dumb enough to ram it through.

I bet Backlash thinks Trump will be removed.

Senate Republicans do not expect to call witnesses President Trump might want to hear from most in an impeachment trial, conceding there are not the votes to summon key figures such as Hunter Biden and the unidentified government whistleblower whose complaint sparked the process.

Senate impeachment rules require a majority vote to call witnesses, and with just two out of 53 votes to spare, there is no “appetite” among Republicans to pursue testimony from people that Democrats blocked Republicans from subpoenaing during the House investigation.

Wouldn't they technically have 3 votes to spare since Pence can be the tie breaking vote in the case of a tie? We might not get Joe Biden on the stand but something tells me even the butthurtiest of all butthurt Senators Mitt Romney is going to go along with some of the witnesses Trump wants to see testify.

Pence does not get a vote.

In an impeachment trial, the vice president is not available to cast tie-breaking votes on motions, which could include a request for witnesses to testify.

Suddenly we care about rules now in this impeachment shit? Republicans should start taking a page from the underhanded way Democrats run things or they better get used to being a minority party.

You mean the ones that supposedly only come from Europe because they are a green box? Even though the night time Sudafed comes in green box?

You mean the rules they set up themselves? lol

And Should Pence get a vote on whether he himself is asked to testify?

So you're saying you have no problem with the senate changing their own rules to allow for Mike Pence to be the tie breaking vote right? You sure as shit have no problem with the Democrats in the House not just changing the rules but outright breaking their own rules or ignoring them so let's see the Republicans in the senate grow some balls here.

And Should Pence get a vote on whether he himself is asked to testify?

Sure why not? Apparently senators currently running for president are going to get to vote on whether to remove Trump or not. I think I would rather the vice president deciding on whether or not he's called to testify as opposed to senators being able to vote on if they want to remove their only competition in the presidential race.

You don't seem to like facts or reasoning or consistency too much. You seem, dare I say it, like you're afflicted with TDS.
