Now that people have had a chance to test the higher end of paladins, I was curious at how they are doing.

Show examples of hits and damage done as well as taken if you are willing.

Here is what my 60th paladin has been able to do.

You swing a vaalin hilted mein falchion at a black forest ogre!
AS: +505 vs DS: +230 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +37 = +344
... and hit for 107 points of damage!
Powerful slash!

Useful comments always encouraged.

WTF was responsible for the training costs of paladin skills. They are so cheap it's ridiculous.

Level 60 character, the numbers are generalizations though the skills may be a little above or below the actual X. 2x Shield, CM, Edged. 1x armor, spells, PF, HP. .5x dodge, lore, perception, climb, swim.

So basically, his AS in straight skills not taking into account any spells is that of a warrior. Now add on the however many AS enhancing spells are in the new paladin circle, on top of the solid DS and TD gotten from minor spirit.

According to the documentation, open ambushing only takes into account your ambush and CM skill, not perception. Perception helps from hiding.

Whered you get 1x spells from? 20 + 34 = 54 and 1x at 60 would be 61. Thats 7 spells at 0/27 or 189 TPs right there.

If you are wanting to convert thinking you'll be able to grab a ton of CM and really swing like a truck then you gotta realize how much they are giving up to swing "REALLY" high.

Iooy

Alarke

Well in order to double at my training, 78, it would cost me 800/640 more TPs. Although the extra 40 AS would be nice, and 80 more CM points would help a ton, it isnt worth 800/640 worth of skills for me to have.

Sylph
03-22-2005, 01:02 AM
You'll be giving up plate till VERY VERY old age... at least... probably giving up a great deal of spells and other skills.

MO for instance...

I had to do something like... lose 80 ranks of PT, 10 ranks of MoC, 55 ranks of lores, 10 spells, and i was able to double CM... maybe something else that i gave up too.

Wouldn't it make more sense to stay closer to 1.25x and allow 1611 to fill in the other .75x to give you a full 2x cm.

-----------------------------------------------
At level 60, he could have 62 spells as a semi, and that much or more as a pure. They are holy warriors, they should swing higher than a bard.

he dropped 8 spells.

Look at his lores (which as well as spells, effects a lot of benefits from other spells and functions)

25 ranks of one lore is less than .5x trained.

0 lore in the other two, which granted are less important, but ::Shrug:: it's still giving up just to swing.

I haven't been back in GSIV for long... not really sure why the points were put in dodging when he has enough armor to wear plate... i'm right in my assumption that dodging and plate don't mix, right?

No first aid, no survival. Level 60 and can't raise yet, certainly doesn't have the lores to raise more than once.

no mana control.

He's basically a square with a few spells. Yes, it will make his fighting stats higher?

Why is that a big deal?

They are holy warriors, I say again.
