It increases the value of gems anywhere from 20% to 50% in value does leaves a hand wound and puts you in various rt
The gem dealer takes the blue sapphire and inspects it carefully before saying, "I'll give you 2935 for it if you want to sell."
You strike at a blue sapphire with your chisel and hit it pretty good while retaining your grip.
You now hold a faceted sapphire.
Roundtime: 19 sec
The gem dealer takes the faceted sapphire and inspects it carefully before saying, "I'll give you 3522 for it if you want to sell."
20% increase
The gem dealer takes the uncut diamond and inspects it carefully before saying, "I'll give you 6317 for it if you want to sell."
You strike at an uncut diamond with your chisel and hit it precisely. You are pleased with the results.
You now hold a faceted diamond.
The gem dealer takes the faceted diamond and inspects it carefully before saying, "I'll give you 9476 for it if you want to sell."

$500 or so. They don't move that often.

2015 = 120m X 9 = over 1k dollars?
Why are they cheaper nowadays?

If he can get $1k for it, go him. What most people do is buy these, use them for awhile, and then resell them down the line.

If you read the other auction thread it did say that RT was added to them. It sold for 120mil. Would pay for itself probably in like a year if you have a purifying bard and a lot of downtime...

Assuming bard is capped and will only purify. Assuming it takes 11 casts to reach top value, in averag, 33 seconds RT (lag is taken below)
Assuming using the chisel takes, in average, 22 seconds (15-30 rt)
Assuming chisel user can auto-heal in less than 11 seconds. (herbs, healing, troll blood,, whatever)
Assuming hunter'S trade skills are 202 ranks (around 27% increase value ON TOP of chisel (I'll evaluate it below still.))
Assuming you provide 109 gems per hour (why 109? cause the loop takes around 33 seconds to maximize your chisel)
Assuming gems are worth 3k in average.
Assuming ,66% botch rate
(source: Script has purified 4113733 gems, sorted 88234 orbs, and 2742 shattered gems) 2% orb rates, ,66% botches))
Assuming a lag of 10% increase on all time values said before
The loop would be, assuming provided 109 gems per hour, 33 seconds RT (11 casts on average to max worth, 3 seconds per cast) from the purifyer and 22 seconds in average from your chisel user (11 seconds extra are used to heal)
If you average 3000 silver per gem in raw value, you end up doing around (75% increase from bard in average (value was given from a few bards on lnet, could be higher, could be lower) 2250 from bard (so value of gems 5250) and 1732 from chisel (on top of bard, assuming 33% increase value (from average given in other posts). Chisel increase per hour (109 gems X 1732 = 189 k per hour)
You'll pay a 200m worth chisel (assuming the worth at that for now) with the chisel itself in 1059 hours. With botch rates taken in the equation: you'd increase the value of time to around 1127 hours to compensate, all things considered equal.
Adding the lag: We'd have an estimate of around 1250 hours to break even and then pure profit, regardless of sale value of chisel if you decide to depart from it
IF you assume the hunter has 27% trade increase, 202 ranks + influence - no racial penality, you cut the hours to (236k from chisel instead of 189) = 847 hours. X .66% botch rate, X 10% lag = less than 1k hours...
Seriously, it's good stuff if you dedicate X amout of hour alone per day only for farming and set your bots accordingly.

in the end after testing literally thousands of gems of all values, a net return of around 30-35 percent was attained, a lot of the value of chisels was the fact that you could power level empaths with them. If you have the gem,s you could keep 2 empaths fried essentially forever. Since they removed XP from the healing of the hand injuries the value isn't likely to be nearly as high. Last chisel I sold, was after that particular auction was for 75 million/7 or so per

Yeah, was a shadow nerf. RT ranges from 15-30 seconds each attempt.

they nerfed healing because of an item like 10 people might have. Nice. Was that a HSN event?

They didn't nerf healing EXP. They already have the "self-inflicted" flag for wounds that negates healing EXP for various things. They just added it to the wound caused by the chisels at some point but i don't think that involved any real extra work. Still dumb, but yeah not like a project or anything.
You can work around the RT if you want to want to do deal with a bunch of meticulous bullshit. (you can offer an item, enter RT, and the receiver can accept the thing just fine while the giver is in RT). Go nuts.
