Ok, for all you sorcerers out there..these are my test notes so far for compairing shield staff vrs Shield/edged.
Adredrin - level 63.
Training - Shield/edged
Stance D unspelled - +229
Stance D Spelled - +406
Stance Guarded Unspelled - +204
Stance Guarded Spelled - +381
Bonus to training : I was able to pick up 1x in both skinning skills (since I would always have an edged weapon out)
Drawback: After 63 trainings, I could only work in 2 ranks of Scroll and MIU.

Training - 2x Spell aim with Spell Staff
Stance D unspelled - +218
Stance D Spelled - +420
Stance Guarded Unspelled - +193
Stance Guarded Spelled - +395
Bonus : Had more points to load into spell trippling, thus adding more spelled DS.
Drawback : It seems staffs have a smaller DS growth then edged/shield, though it is a small difference.
