ok, my mom just saw a commercial for the OC (was on during American Idol) and wants me to find that song. Of course, she has no idea who it is or what it's called. Hopefully someone here can tell me?

All I know was it was a guy singing and it was slow (yeah bet that helps a whole lot)

It's called "California" but I can't think of who it's by. I have it as a ring tone on my cell. I know how helpful that is.

Yeah, the theme song is "California" by Phantom Planet.

I dont know if it's the theme song or not, I've never watched the show. but it was being played during the commercial they played for the show.

It might be Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch, which is a good song in its own right. Be careful, there's a bogus version of the song that is 2 minutes long and is bad (fades) and then there's the version that's 6 minutes long and is good. :)
