NOCon, formerly Nawlinscon is happening this year!

When: August 5, 6, & 7
Where: New Orleans! In the Vieux Carre`(French Quarter)
Who: Everyone is invited! It's a party!

We are working on hotels now. Looking to book one on Bourbon Street or adjacent with balconies! Email me, cytal@play.net with your info and number attending.

For the Jazz & Blues lovers, the Louis Armstrong Festival will be going on that weekend also!

Tentative schedule:

5th-dinner-reasonable rate, local establishment with good Southern Food, yet undecided
6th-Masque Fai do do
7th-brunch-Cafe` du Monde

The Southern contingent wants to enlighten you to the mysteries of the Vieux Carre`...and Lagniappe!

Well, I'm in ohio but thinking about going if I can anyway. I'm a bit of an Anne Rice junkie so would give me another excuse to finally go there.

I went for the Sugar Bowl. Had a fucking blast, but the weather was nice. I just can't imagine that place in 95+ degree heat.

NOCon 2005 is happening this year! August 5, 6, & 7th!

Contract with the hotel is signed and we have $79/night from August 4-7! That is for single/double/triple/quad occupancy. There are some rooms blocked for Friday and Sunday just in case there are early arrivals and late departures. Check in is at 3pm and checkout is noon. We are staying at the St. Ann/Marie Antoinette Hotel http://www.stannmarieantoinette.com/ It is a lovely hotel in the French Quarter. Call 1-800-535-9111 or 504-200-3120 and tell them NOCon 2005 for reservations. We will have the meeting room from Friday at 6 am till Sunday at midnight. Opens into the courtyard with a pool. Just across the hall is the bar and the bar manager has offered a $20 all you can drink for 3 hours on Friday and Saturday. If anyone is driving, there will be parking available for $19 per day with in and out privileges. Having just returned from NO 2 weeks ago, I can tell you this is not a bad rate for parking. Shuttle from the airport is around $13, taxis are a bit more expensive so I suggest the airport shuttle.

Working on dinner for Friday around 6:30pm. Looking at several places now so if you want to attend, let Celeerial know at cmilz@cox.net Bar crawl has been mentioned for Saturday night so if anyone wants to volunteer...Sunday we will go to Cafe du Monde http://www.cafedumonde.com/main.html for beignets and coffee. They have seating for 400 so no reservations needed! We can all gather up 11ish and head over.

Room reservations close Tuesday July 5th, so let everyone know to get
thier reservations in as quickly as possible. When you call the hotel
at 1-888-508-3980 be sure and tell them you are with NOCon 2005 to get
the group rate.

Update......
We now have an extra week to reserve the rooms before the rest of the
blocked rooms are released! July 12th! Don't forget, dont be late!

Gary and I are planning on going to Commander's Palace Thursday night, I think -- and hopefully, we'll drag along James and Julie. The best meal I had in my life, bar none, was a lunch alone at CP when I was in town for a trade show. Anyway, if anybody's around Thursday and is willing to drop some $$$ on a memorable dinner, let me know and I'll up the reservation count.

Got off late from work...and no internet access there...

Thursday and Sunday will $55.00. Talked with the hotel contact today
and she said they would reduce those days for us.

The hotel usually caters the meals if a buffet is wanted.

The bar owner is supposed to call me. Did not hear from her today so
am hopeful to hear from her tomorrow.
