Why did the goose cross the road?

But while on the freeway heading to work, I saw a goose walk across from the median to the right side (it crossed the freeway in front of me), despite the cars and all (and there's no pond on the side waiting for it).

Strange! Why not just fly over.

Must had been a dare by the other geese, but I didn't see any other ones.
