Hey guys,

I'm looking for a few training plans for some of the characters I have, but specifically for my 40 something pally, I was considering going one-hand polearm and shield. Anyone out there got a decent training plan for what they're using, and also, how effective has it been?

Thanks!

It's a regular paladin training plan, just swap OHE/B for polearms. Depending on your stats you'll probably have to skip tertiary/secondary skills a few times due to a lack of TPs. You'll want to use a tower shield and invest in a lot of shield CMs otherwise you'll be plinking things to death.

So, I'm looking at the following:

2x armor
1x shield
2x polearms
1x CM
1x PF
1x Dodging (Not sure if this is a good idea, or just drop it into shield)
1x Perception
1x HP
.5x SMC
1x Spells

I know I need lore in there, not sure where to fit it. I suppose I could lower armor some, but I want to build up to, at least MBP quick.

Thoughts?

I think 2x shield vs 1x shield/1x dodge is the more common path. The upside of splitting the points is you can wear the shield, grip the spear, and kill more quickly if the situation is safe enough for it.

Just since I've been testing it. The spear / shield combo has been awesome to fight with. Aside from visualizing my character pulling moves like King Leonidas, it's done fairly well as a combo of utilizing the polearm with sbash to really take on multiple targets at the same time, without MOC, while keeping them crowd controlled. I'm quite pleasantly surprised.
