Well, I'm glad the kitty survived his car surfing experience, and very sorry for the one in the pictures.
I don't think anything should be so unloved that it dies in the open and rots where it lies.
Even someone that hates everybody and everything deserves better, never mind a dumb animal.
Eh... I got a chuckle at the fuzzy story and the PWNED! pictures. It's what counts, no?

People 5000 kilometers from you actually EAT cats.
Many many many dies because you actually need to kill the cat before eating it.
Do you feel sorry now?

Yep.
Of course, I've spent the past ten years working at a zoo where we'd devote lots of time and money to curing a sick chicken, then stop at Kentucky Fried on the way home to grab a bucket of his cousins for dinner.
And I'm still glad the cat survived his car ride. :)-
Not really news. Cats do stupid stuff with cars every day.
My dad and I went to a store a few miles down the road from our house one day, when we pulled in the lot and turned the vehicle off, we heard loud meowing sounds.
Turns out one of our cats hitched a ride UNDER THE HOOD. It was fine, etc.

My cat went in the drawer underneath our stove. Nobody noticed, it got closed, buffalo wings were cooked. Also fine.

A couple of years ago I missed one of my cats at feeding time. Searching the whole house didn't turn him up and I worried that he'd somehow gotten out.
Late that night I was wakened by the most godawful yowling. I stumbled downstairs and found one of my other cats staring at the dishwasher and howling her head off.
We found the missing cat wedged under the dishwasher. Mike had to break the kitchen counter to pull the dishwasher up so he didn't kill the cat. Except for a gash on his shoulder he was fine. Funny, though, he was an orange cat and the hair grew in white over the gash.
I got a new dishwasher out of the deal.

On the cat note Kitten, I was wondering since you love cats and aparently know alot about them...
My mom found this tiny kitten about 8 months ago, dirty flea infested, ear mites so bad he couldn't hear, like someone shoved a cork in his ear. Tapeworm that we're still fighting to get rid of...
Have you ever seen a cat with 6 toes on both back paws, and the back feet are elongated like a rabbit? But thats not all, this cat has 9 toes on one front paw and 8 on the other. All the toes have claws. This baffled the vet and the only thing he could think of was to surgically remove them. I'd love to know if you've ever seen anything like this and to have your opinion on it.
I tried to take a picture of his little paws but all I have access to is the webcam and they didnt come out very clear. I'll try again tomorow when the lightings better.
He's so incredibly sweet, his name's George

Not really, unless you inspect him they just look like oversized feet, the extra toes are small and inbetween the normal ones.
I was also referring to the ear mites and fleas

yeah, it was. She got rid of them and he's perfectly healthy with the exception of the tapeworm nothing seems to completley rid him of :( And the toes, of course.

Nooo! Don't let the vet remove those toesies! Your kitten is a polydactyl. It's unusual, but not all THAT unusual. At Ernest Hemingway's old place in Key West, they're all over the place. The old guy sorta collected them and the estate has kept breeding them, it seems.
The extra toes are not harmful, just unique. :)

Harmnone beat me to it! Don't touch them toes!
I'm really amazed your vet suggested removing them. Unless the nails on those toes are growing wrong and cutting into his paws he is absolutely fine.
For tapeworm, the first thing you have to do is kill the fleas. If the cat goes outside he's going to get more fleas and you'll never lose the tapeworm. I'd recommend keeping him in, bombing the house to make sure you get all of the fleas (take him out of the house to bomb) then giving him a good long bath with a pyrethrin-based product.
I've found pyrethrins to be the safest thing out there for cat flea treatment. The reason you go after fleas is that they are the intermediate host for the tapeworm life cycle. The only way to truly lose the tapes is to break this life cycle. If your cat is one of those rare ones who has a reaction to pyrethrans, here are some signs to look out for. http://www.petplace.com/articles/artShow.asp?artID=1254
The odds are you won't see anything like this. I've even used pyrethran shampoo on cats with liver issues and never had a reaction.
Once your fleas are history, the cat should be treated with a drug called Droncit (generic name praziquantel). We used to give a single dose, then a follow-up dose three weeks later. Discuss this with your veterinarian, as the protocol might have changed in the years since I've worked in small animal practice.
Your kitten sounds absolutely delightful! I'm more than a little jealous, I LOVE kittens.

See! I knew someone here, especially Kitten, would have the answer! Wonder why the vet was clueless??
Georgie doesn't have fleas anymore, no ear mites and he is an indoor cat. She took care of all that when she brought him in and over a month or so got rid of them all. She still uses Frontline + and he doesn't seem to have any fleas that we can find these days. And she does use Droncit but the tapeworms reappear constantly.

If your vet didn't recognize that polydactyly is not a reason to remove a cat's toes, I'd seriously consider getting another vet. That might also be the answer to the poor little kitty's tapeworm problem. :(

I'd love to see some pics! Also, really do consider seeing another vet that understands this condition better. That way, you can be sure there are not problems with any of the toes, or nails. :)
