PC Guild for Classic WoW?

Since it's announcement there has been a number of people express their interest in starting a PC guild for Classic WoW. Over the past couple days there has been talk about a hard release date being announced very soon and some Beta files have been data mined. My guess it will be a July release date, which leaves about 2 months to get something started if people are interested.

For people that either never played WoW or never played Vanilla WoW and may be interested in being a part of something that can be off the charts fun. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

I'm personally not interested in being any kind of guild officer, I'm just trying to get a conversation about the topic going. I'm personally looking for a guild that would be semi-hardcore when it comes to raiding and would prefer a normal realm over a PvP realm, though a PvP realm would not be a deal breaker for me. I normally play Horde but playing Alliance isn't an issue if it makes things easier to put together.

Right now I'm deciding between protection warrior or playing a tank druid until 60 then converting to resto.

Anyhow, would be cool to get at least 10 of us organized by release.

Classic World of Warcraft goes live August 27th, 1 month from today.

On August 13th classic servers will allow for character name reserves if you have a game sub. As of yet server names and types haven't been released (this could possibly happen today).

I just don't think 15 years later, it will hold up. Might be fun for a couple days or weeks.. but that's probably it.

I've been playing on the private servers and I'll probably give Classic a try when it comes out but man, there are a lot of QoL changes that I'll miss. If we manage to get a decent sized PC guild I may hang around for a while.

WoW classic is for suckers. SWGEmu is where it's at.

Unfortunately I think the Vanilla servers may be big for a day and then dead soon after. During the Beta people couldn't stop reporting things they thought were bugs but were just the way things were before a thousand quality of life updates fixed them. It was a slow burn, the dumbing down of the game and making it so everyone's a winner, but make no mistake, it's something people had been asking for since day one. I do miss the weekly updated honor lists though. That gave my server a personal feel that the game never recaptured after they stopped updating them. I doubt they'll bring them back, but I hope they do.

Classic is a different game with a different mentality than current WoW. 15 years ago, I had the time and ability to spend the day grinding mats for potions, then all night wiping in an instance. Now, not so much. I'll play it a little but I don't see myself getting too involved.

Who would play classic on a pve server?

I've played extensively on both types of servers and prefer PvE. TM vs. SS was just as active on the PvE servers as it was on the PvP servers. Mostly my preference is based on not having the raid schedule borked.

As far as a PC guild it wouldn't matter to me what kind of server or faction. I pretty much always play horde but I enjoy the NE starting zones the best, Dark Shore / Ashenvale.

Based on name reservations so far, the Herod realm is looking to be massively overpopulated. If all existing players on this server remain there, login queues in excess of 10,000 players are a certainty, and possibly much higher than that. We recently opened up the Stalagg realm, and we urge players on Herod to consider moving there. There are a lot of players currently on Herod and we want Stalagg to fill up before we open any new PvP realms. This is so that player population is spread as evenly as possible before launch, in order to provide the best play experience. While we are able to fit several times more players on a single realm in 2019 than was the case in 2006, we are not going to raise that cap any further, even though we have the technical capacity to do so. Raising realm caps would simply forestall the problem, letting more players in at launch but creating an unsustainable situation down the line, with severe queues when we turn off layering permanently before Phase 2 of our content unlock plan. Please also note that our realm population estimates of Low, Medium, High, and Full are based on this increased capacity – a Medium realm today already has more characters on it than even the most crowded realms did back in 2006. Our top priority in planning for WoW Classic’s launch has been ensuring that we are laying the groundwork for strong realm communities that will endure over the months and years to follow, which is why we’re cautiously opening new servers to meet demand.

Incendius was just opened this afternoon and is already at high pop. Son and I decided last night to just roll on Incendius. Alcrowley is my UD priest, Murderen is my sons UD warrior.

As much as I would like to go alchemy/herbalism, I'm going with tailoring/enchanting. ::mutters something about Uldaman::.

The last time I did this was for Lich king. I used to take a week off for EG until they stopped using, you know, the currency that you spend the entire year collecting for EG.

I tried to join a friend's server but queue was at 3400 and taking forever to move. I was going to bed soon anyway so I just rolled up on another server just to be able to fuck around for a bit. Will probably jump back on friend's server later today.

Then hopefully I'll figure out why I'm even playing this, as there's a 99% chance I won't feel like dealing with guild bullshit and raid schedules and all that cancer.
