that or set the script to start with "get greataxe" and at some point he looted a greataxe, or someone dropped one in their resting room, and they picked that up on accident. combined with a blessing script that only triggers the blessing falling off, not the no effect message.

They could probably get him for being disruptive to other players though if he's just swinging away at a critter he can't kill every 5 seconds.

He was probably just distracting them so there would be less chance of them attacking other hunters in the area.

He was pretty much tanking for the other people in the area. But instead they decided to be ungrateful. :(

I'm sure if they wanted to they could call it a mechanical advantage. Just being in the zone both causes critters to spawn regularly and causes them not to despawn, so in certain areas you could end up with an area filled up with a critter you don't want to fight and no ability to get it to reset. Or the other way around, consistently full of easy critters to kill.

There was a guy sitting afk once in troglodytes/gnomes/gnolls last time I leveled a character. I didn't say anything because he was just sitting there afk for days, not killing anything...but damn was it easy to fry when there were enough critters to fry off of as soon as entering the area.

I got my initial AFK scripting warning when I passed out at my laptop. I don't have "hunting" scripts that move around and rest or whatever, but I did have an attack loop script (Stance, Attack, Stance) that was running when I fell asleep. I died, cause duh, it was never designed to work without a pilot. And Ylandra, bless her heart, decided that she should raise me in the field without getting any response from me, when I died again because *gasp* I wasn't present to run to town to recoup, she raised me again, and when *MUTHA FUCKIN GASP* I died again, she reported me for AFK scripting. When I came to, dead, Ylandra took me to her private sanctuary to give me a very self righteous scolding. Once she released me, I got a tell from a GM saying "Yup, what she said, here is your violation".

So yes, you can 100% get an AFK scripting violation even if you are doing nothing of value, and even if some cleric is stacking death penalties up on you in a senseless act of nonsense.

There are a lot of 'gotcha' clauses in the scripting policy - there's one that says it's a violation to script more than 20% of your total time online, for example. It's all up to GM discretion though, and if they want to hand out a violation, they will.

A lot of the time is you aren't actually gaining anything from AFK scripting, you'll only get reported for causing a disturbance, which is also a violation. In the case Ososis mentioned, Ylandra should have also taken a hit, for raising twice when she seems to have known you were AFK, especially after the second time. Not necessarily a warning, but the fame/XP gain should have been stripped and of course, she should have gotten told not to do that.

Another point, which I think one of the things that probably made Ososis' AFK scripting violation fall foul is also that there was a gain from his AFK scripting, Ylandra gained.

S.W.I.M got tired with an AFK scripter because their pet...jaguar? Was injured and failing at standing up for well over an hour. Was very sad to see. During that hour, "they" tried everything they could to heal the poor beast to no avail, then tried everything to contact the scripter with equal luck. In a TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE CHOICE this person decided to try to disarm them as they ran through. First (only) attempt they rolled a 130 something, hit for like 113. Snapped up a perfect 6x T2 handaxe. You might expect the person to come calling about that loss, but instead they moved to the Nations and the topic was never broached again. Was a nice replacement weapon to the 4x ice flaring longsword.

Also, for the record, I am NEVER AFK, though sometimes I am AAK.
