The current owner has supposedly had him for years and will never sell him. People have tried.

Someone finally made an honest woman out of Tsin.

I think he just likes having him as a box slave.

He sold at least twice just over a year ago.

That would be dumb if so. A freshly capped rogue could do the same without the high character price.

Not if he doesn't feel like training LM.

Not if he doesn't feel like training LM.

Is that even worth it? My capped 3x pick/disarm rogue can open anything and has almost no LM.

I would lock mastery is worth it if you are picking. It just isn't a time friendly endeavor.

I don’t know much about it. What do you get out of it other than wedges? Do boxes exist that a capped 3x pick/disarm rogue can’t open without lock mastery?

There are boxes that exist that a capped 3x rogue can't pick due to racials, like a giant can't do it but a DE can, and then there are boxes that are just hard but doable.

Also it makes disarming traps much faster

those are fairly far between... for the amount of work for LM personally just popping it is the way to go.

Tsin can do both. Which is why the owner is just happy with him being his box slave.

Why would tsin pop boxes... picking locks is 0 RT.. it's the traps that are the problem

You can pop around some traps.

I was talking about in the case of the boxes that have the super high locks on it... forgoing messing with it and just popping. Also the mention of racial mods that make some higher level locks/traps a PITA even at 3x.

Sounds remarkably not worth it.

Sounds almost worth it.

The hardest thing about Lock Mastery is getting all the boxes you need. If someone has a rogue and that's mainly just being used for picking then it's probably already got piles of boxes to deal with. There's scripts for pretty much every non box related LM task so it's not that painful. I think LM is going faster than subdue or cheap shot did just cause it was so hard to find peers for partner reps in EN.

LM is nice for the -15 RT you'll have when mastered, wedging open the occasional plated mithril/enruned boxes, and repairing your own picks.
