That's 100% what's happening, yes. You can see (in the second clip specifically) the separate messaging for primary/secondary flare both happening, but everything's getting doubled up by the fire vulnerability.

The extra 2 aren't a greater flare thing though, that will happen when they're hit with any fire spell/ability.

If you get the regular flare and the greater flare to proc at the same time, you'll get 3 flares when elemental vulnerabilities aren't involved. I've never heard of them proccing 4x against anything, and I don't see it mentioned in the wiki. Vulnerability flares don't count, as it's not a feature of the item.

Not trying to trash on your sale or anything, as the wiki info isn't exactly correct either, and the item is still worth the price.

The clip below from the wiki shows a double flare + 2 fire vulnerability flares, which aren't a part of the greater flares, it's just a fire thing in general against those targets, which would happen with a drake falchion or any fire spell. The red parts aren't from the greater elemental flares, it's just what happens when something vulnerable to fire is hit with any fire spell. The bold part is the vulnerability messaging:


As shown in Wyrom's clips, the scripted double-flare can be additionally doubled when used against a target weak to the element.

The scripted part is always double unless the first round kills it before the second one can be applied.

Yeah, without an elemental vulnerability you get 3 total strikes max. Regular flare, or double flare, or both for a total of 3. Source: I have exclusively used a greater void runestaff for the past two years.

Some people make a mountain out of a mole hill... I wasn’t wrong, I was misinterpreted. Partially my fault for not being extremely careful with my words because I wasn’t expecting the audit police to hammer me.

If you took the time to ask me for a clarification I would have explained that I was saying the flares can proc damage 4 times and 2 additional for vulnerability.

I haven’t been misleading in my post and I wasn’t salty until I got fed up with your annoying pedantic bullshit. Save us all the time of reading another obnoxious post -report me and then go back to minding your own business. And don’t presume to know other peoples’ disposition by your erroneous interpretation of their messages. I can’t stand that Trumpian behavior.

Wanted to add that I really appreciated that the clip showed fire vulnerable critters with the extra flares. The only reason, mechanically, to pick fire flares is so many things are vulnerable to them. So without the clip my first question would have been “do you get double flares on vulnerable critters with the greater flare, too?”
