403 and 404 will no longer halve the experience gained for picking, popping, and disarming.

Yeah no kidding, I never knew this.
I'm assuming you guys never really did much lockpicking? They made that change a LONG time ago. I want to say it was almost a Growing Pains-era change.

I guess I just never paid attention. I just see the mind bar go up and down, I don't really pay much attention as to how much it goes up or down.

The 403/404 xp nerf was essentially "fuck people for using the tools available to them".
It's good that it's gone, now they need to remove the penalty from LM.

It was definitely noticeable at the time. Used to just keep the spells up when picking since they were known and there was no reason not to. Then they decided that that just made picking boxes for exp way too easy or something and dropped the hammer.
edit: I think the exp change coincided with the change to those spells that also affected their bonus based on your skill. We had to have trade-offs, you know?

I knew that casting 403/404 would increase your skill and the amount of experience you gained from picking/disarming was based on how easy the lock/trap was compared to your skill. Was that all from this 50% reduction in experience gain or was this penalty in addition to the difficulty based on skill thing? Like you got less experience because your skill is now higher and you got 50% less experience for even using 403/404, like a double whammy?
