Deadly ambush from Ithzir scouts

I think the Ithzir scouts are ambushing me and my DS is significantly lower. I could die from a flare or otherwise. Does Perception help with knowing when one enters the room? Can searching help detect their presence?

Your DS will often be lower from an ambush (due to ambush stance pushdown), not just from scouts - bandits, triton executioners, etc. Perception doesn't help you identify a hidden creature entering or generating in the room. Best bet is to run with as high of a DS as you can get under Spellburst mechanics.
