Anyone tried them out yet? I can't bear to reallocate again just to suck. But what's the skinny?

Staves rock! I reallocated my now 55 train Sorc in 4 cutting out shield and weapon and purely concentrated on magical stuff. My sorc has a higher DS now and I freed up all those points I was wasting on shield and edged and now I can actually RP the way I feel a spell caster should be.

Using a stave makes me think more of Raistlin in the Dragonlance books, Khatiff, I totally agree with you. I can't wait to use them when GS4 goes live. No more carrying around a stupid shield.

The last thing I heard, was that staves really sucked. I guess I'll go into beta and try it. Thanks!

They suck. My wizard has lost a considerable amount of DS. Anyone not losing DS obviously wasn't trained very well prior to this addition. However, .5x weapon and shield is now the baseline for pures. A pure fully singled in both these skills is still far behind the warriors in terms of DS.

What's bolt DS like?

And: Does anyone know what the ah... URL for the web site that will make you a reallocation script? I seem to have lost all of my links in my ISP move.

I'm still going to do my best to stay 1x shield and ohe I don't see a war mage using a staff. If I find it's unworkable and I have to use a staff I'll be changing my title and that will make for one pissed off wizard.

Tsoran's trainer sheet can create you your own script for reallocation. Bolt DS for staves...hehehe.

Heh, I could take you out, at 50, with a swing. Love the balance.

Let me see, I jotted down all the numbers I could grab, we'll see if I remember what they were all for. :P

DS- 353 guarded (self spelled without shields)
258 offensive

CS (minor circle) 340
AS (major circle) 311
AS (wizard circle) 318 (as of now, before lores come into play)

TD- 262 against 700's
228 against 100's
DS- 294 against 400's (when Khaitiff cast at me)
294 against 500's
244 against self-cast 400's (not sure what's up with that)
343 against 900's

Now I just jotted these down very quickly so it's entirely possible they may be wrong, so don't get upset if they are, I will double check them, but for now it should at least give an idea.

(*edited to add*- I have rechecked all of my info and it all checks out. The only thing I can't check at this moment is my TD and DS against Khaitiff's spells, but I will recheck those again after he gets home from work*)

Woah woah woah! My DS in offensive stance is 362, self spelled as a lvl 56 wizard. And how is that minor CS so high? I've got 70 ranks in the 400's at lvl 56 and my CS is only 310. Why are we so vastly different here?

Daina, count me in on the IM stuff when I am on later, I'd be interested to find out more -- been really getting into the "stats thing" the last few months.

I d on't want a spreadsheet, I want the url for the web site that does it for you. Tsoran's spreadsheet stinks.

I've practiced a bit with staves and from my experiences I found that you need atleast 10 ranks in different mental skills each training in order to get a decent stave bonus. I.E. Spell Training, Mana Control, Harness Power, and the like.

Tsoran's rules. I'll reallocate you Maim, or anyone else who needs a hand ;)

Personally I think I am well placed stat wise but regardless of that aspect just being able to RP my Sorc as I felt he should be is wonderful enough for me..... like Daina said if we get smacked at our age your dead anyways so why worry about that little 20 DS your missing or whatever..... thats why you have a wife who is a different profession.

Heh, ironically, Stay can use Staves pretty well due to an extended amount of Magic training.

there's still a dodge before they actully hit you, wizards are lucky we got alot of dodge bonus from our spells... I think...

Yep you do. Plus I think there is a 30% evasion that everyone can make.
