I don't really play anymore, but I've been thinking of driving down for a night, just to meet all the people who have taken up so much of my time over the last, uh, couple years.

I cant go this year being as I'll likely be in labor during the festivities.
But I have gone before, and I had a lot of fun. I'd be going again this year if I could.

No fucking way would I put myself in the same room with the freakshows who play gemstone.
I can tell that I'd get drunk as fast as possible then end the night by beating the shit out of the asshats who talked nothing but mechanics.
Then I'd kill myself becouse I'd spent god knows how much $ to suffer it.

Some people are just in denial of their geek/nerd/freak-hood.

The rest of us have fun with life :)

Course, some of the things I've admitted to doing becouse of my addiction to gemstone really are scary.
Luckily I've never dressed as an Elf, a pirate or worn a cloak.
Wierd goaties.
Skinny , checkered shirt guys.
Guys I imagine to be as big as a house (player of Bades eg.) actually being young enough to be my son.
Basicly It's a frightening place to be for me.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention, most of the people there will have IQ's of about 160 . .
Which really freaks me out.

I hate crowds too. If you have any interest at all in knowing the future of the game, and meeting with the Coders of your Profession and favored mechanics, it is really a good opportunity. Some go for the parties, some for random socializing, some for the seminars and info given.

Stun and I were going to go last year in order to get in on the information coming about our professions in game etc. but we chose to spend that time together on vacation instead. This year we wanted to go as well however we are moving that week so once again we will miss it. :( Perhaps next year. Although right now, before we move, St. Louis is within driving distance so it would definately be more convenient money wise to do it now. Ah well!

I really want to go!! Looks like I will be stuck with those darn stroke patients in rehab unless I can stop everyone in the area having a stroke over the next few months!

Not going this year, nope. But yes, I was one of those freaks before. :smiles sweetly at Drayal:

Of course, since I don't get shitfaced drunk, mostly what I did was hang with my two favorite Gemstone guys and make fun of people.

You're an exception Czeska.
I'd be honoured to spend simucon talking to you.

still . .
how many thousands of miles away from me is this taking place.
:(

Four zillion. I walked it with a pedometer, so I'm sure.

Eh... I wouldn't call myself a freakshow but im definately weird.

A gymrat, booknerd, soocer/hockey player... who likes to play gemstone.

I think it'd be fun to get drunk with a bunch of the people from gemstone... I just like drinking and partying.

It's like a four hour drive for me to go... don't know if I will or not though.

On a related note, Vegascon is right now. Right now GM Tilmont, GM Andraste, Tierus, Viria, Shiril and Sepher are eating pizza in my living room watching The Office. We're having fun. GM Elbrion is staying with us too, but he left to go play in the poker tournament.

Clearly Kristin is lying because she's an attention slut. I've never so much as met her, much less slept at her house while receiving toe-pleasure from Shiril.

Oops.

Andiago is definitely crazy folk. I've met 2 people from Gemstone, both were quite normal. Yes, I'm a normie as well.

No, a peon would be the "average" Gemstone player. There is a sizeable difference between average and normal.

HAHAHA. wtf?

this was giggle worthy for about 4 minutes, even though I'm not sure what either one of them is talking about.

:?:

I came so close to buying tickets for this event because I thought I'd be in North Carolina that week. But plans changed. :sniffle:
