If I don't get some help, I'm going to destroy this fuckin' thing.

I just got it today. When ever I put a new song on it, it erases all the other songs I already had stored on my iPod.

Apple won't answer their phones. I can't find anything about this problem on the internet.

What the fuck? Anyone have an idea?

I’m not going to be any help. I am an Apple computer user, but I don’t own an iPod.

I know too many people with iPod problems.

Good luck.

Ohh, you might have the auto-sync option turned on.

When you open up Itunes, with your Ipod in it, right click your Ipod and deselect auto-sync.

Something like that.

I thought if you had auto-sync, any song he had in Itunes automatically got uploaded to the Ipod....

I am filling my iPOD shuffle right now, and had the same problem. This may not be your problem but just in case......when you go to autofill make sure you unclick the box that says erase all songs when autofilling.

Excellent. That fixes that problem. But now that I have it on "manual sync", my iPod won't come off the "Do Not Remove" screen, and I can't update it anyway.

I hate technology.

If you're using iTunes, on the file list on the left side of the screen, you should be able to rightclick your iPod, and have a disconnect option. If that's not there, then there's always the remove thingie on the toolbar next to your clock...i forget what it's called.

Yeah, I've done that.

When I try to link back up, it does the same thing.

If Itunes is not reading your Ipod correctly, it's most likely because it isn't fully charged..

Umm.. so the problem is that the previous data is being erased?

I am a mac owner, not sure if u are using a PC.. if so, good luck..

I would try some simple problems solving steps

#1> make sure the box that indicates whether or not you should erase previous media is unchecked.

#2> make sure it's all synced up and fully charged, download any driver/software updates if you need to.

#3> if all else fails, try dragging and dropping the files into the ipod manually making sure to put them in appropriate folders and stuff..

#4> call apple

#5> buy a macintosh

I managed to fix it without any physical harm to myself or the iPod.

It's a big victory for me.

Personally, I have decided to wait a little bit before jumping on the iPod bandwagon. My brother in law has one and swears by it.. but because of Apple's consistent "OUR FORMAT ONLY OR YOU CAN GO FUCKOFF" attitude.. someone will produce a better one that will allow more functions and more formats.

I give it a year. Until then, I can be happy with my little Rio that holds like 50 songs tops. I'll just edit them more frequently.

The only thing 'apple' that they force you to use is Itune to upload your music but every Mp3 player I've owned has done that. To upload with my original Rio Diamond I needed Rio's software and to upload to my Creative Jukebox I needed to run creatives software. I can't see how having to use Itunes is any different. I dunno maybe some don't make you use their software but for the 3 I own it's always been the case.

Anyone who is dissatisfied with, or finds themself reguarly wishing they'd never bought, their iPod can certainly feel free to ship it my way.

<<The only thing 'apple' that they force you to use is Itune to upload your music but every Mp3 player I've owned has done that.>>

My MP3 player's memory uses a 1GB flash drive. It's so much cooler and more efficient.

An Mac product that doesn't work properly??? OMG shock. The local Mac dealer/repairman gets on average 12 iPods a week. Theres much better quality mp3 players on the market. Don't be a slave to the brand.

If by more efficient you mean holds 1/4 of the music an IPod mini holds or 1/20th or 1/40th of what a regular IPod holds then were in agreement.

It's interesting that yours uses a flashdrive which I'm assuming means you can just add/remove from explorer, which I suppose is good if I want to take my music from computer to computer without needing software. Although my IPod does technically sync with windows media player I've never tried to upload/download from it that way.

"Hey, your product wouldn't work. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy another."

You should've gotten a DJ.

That's exactly what it means. It's USB 2.0 storage and the player automatically filters music vs. data.

My friend hacked his ipod so that he can copy music strait over without itunes. Not sure what he did but it works great for him.

I will not buy an ipod just because of the fact you have to use itunes.

But mp3 players are still very cool.

Itunes isn't that big ol' deal. Its pretty simple to use for me. I use to own an IRiver, but I am a slave to cuteness.

I bought my wife a broodPod....err iPod for Christmas. Took at least 3 tries to format the thing for PC use, now whenever we try to disconnect it, it gives some annoying "YOU'RE BREAKING THE SHIZNIT, STOP IT NEXT TIME" message, but we've found there's like a 3 second window that you can remove it without it messing up.

But she swears by the thing now. She's got two speakers connected to it and its her stereo. Thing works great...except that I have to restrict her to getting 15 songs a month...otherwise I'd be in the poor house now, she's got about 400 songs in her shopping cart.

I won't ever own one. I'm waiting for a game-boy sized Playstation/TV/AM/FM RADIO/PDA/MP3 Player/mini-DVD player...which should happen just before we develop FTL drive.

And right after HJ is released.

I don't think there's any uncertainty over whether it will be released or not. The question is just how well it will do, and more importantly when it will be released.

Paying for music.. what a smart thing to do.
