Politics really does conquer the feed but you can subscribe to stuff and not have to deal with it. I've been looking into excluding the politics folder but it's becoming hit or miss with issues.

Yeah, I resisted doing it for the last couple of years but it made the activity stream much more usable after I did. Its one of the better ignore mechanics I've seen with forum software since you can see that they posted in other topics and choose to read it. I never would have needed it, but I love hitting the activity stream view before scanning topics.
