View Full Version : The Age Scenario

I posted this on LNet and it was pretty well received so;

Would you rather be reborn into a new body somewhere else (dimension, place, time, etc) with all your current knowledge and skills?

OR

Would you rather have a 30 year old body and live without the fear of death via aging? You can still die, you just don't have to worry about age.

Esplain.

Reborn infinite times?

Reborn infinite times?

I'd say you can die in the new place but if you don't, once you turn 50 you can choose to be reborn again with the limitation of the option only being valid once, on your birthday, a year.

Probably reborn over and over. If you were 30 forever, you'd eventually be found out and someone would murder the shit out of you.

I would pick reborn as well but the idea of learning how to walk all over again is mortifying.

If Crusader Kings 2 has taught me anything about the second option, it's that a) you will eventually get cancer, and b) there is another immortal out there hunting for you.

Being an enlightened baby would suck, though.

No no no no no! The day I get granted an ageless 30 year old body I'd probably get hit by a car or fall down the steps and break my neck. Got to go with reborn, reluctantly

Fuck. I laughed too hard at that.

The enlightened baby gives me a wave of anxiety that I will understand that shitting myself is a bad thing but I won't be able to control it until I develop motor skills.

I think you'll need some kind of regeneration clause in there to avoid cancer, like each time a cell dies it's replaced by an exact copy so there are no mutations.

I think not aging covers it, honestly. Your cells are just coming back as the exact same.

I would say that the clause is that you can die but it can't be of a natural thing, like aging. Your body is not an unbreakable fortress but it's definitely a thing out of time. You can still OD and choke on spaghetti but you're not gonna die because too much sun. You'd have to be deliberately attempting to die.

Alright, so basically like Highlander minus the decapitation thing.

Can I cut a side deal? I just want to go back to high school and fuck all those girls I used to think were too chubby.

But without the sword. Unless you wanna carry a sword.

That's weird. If you wanna nail high school girls from back in the day, I'd say the Rebirth thing but with the clause of repeating the same timeline. Second chance, basically.

Repeating the same timeline over and over again would eventually get old as fuck. Like, after a million years worth of play.

Thats true. Knowing what we know now, high school would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Can you suicide and keep getting reborn and are we aware that we will be reborn?

Take original deal, randomization. You could be born in an actual D&D fantasy. Or you could be born in the fucking 40's as a black kid.

Once you are dead, you are done. No rebirth. You hit the grave, you are gone. You are aware of yourself once you turn a month old.

Thats a tough one. Not sure I could truly exploit this without knowing that its free of consequences but I'd be willing to try

In your first option do you remember all the memories you had of your previous lives?

Yes.

Astray
08-07-2018, 10:39 PM
Definitely rebirth. A different body everytime, the ability to go back to one of your past lives and correct things, different body which is like getting into a brand new and different car each time.

Lol, that's one way to put it!

Definitely 30, the thought of puberty and high school and KNOWING they were coming would suck. Life was good at 30, besides, no one will know, just ask this guy:

9105

He is a freaking celebrity and no one knows he is a vampire.

Being reborn in the past. I just know that if I chose 30 a massive comet would wipe out life on earth the next day.

So here's a new stipulation. If you wound up reborn into a fantasy World, would you like stay human? Or would you be a monster?

What kind of orc we talking about? A WoW "muh honor" Orc, a rapey LOTR Orc, or an experience pinata D&D orc?

Astray

You'd have your wits and your memories so the type of orc you wanna be would probably be up to you. I'm thinking like roving tribes sort of deal so it varies?
