Thinking of Coming Back

Played Gemstone on and off for about 20 years... a couple of kids and degrees later and I have found myself with free time again. I am looking to get back into the game, PM me if you are looking to move a character or two. I played bard, sorc, and ranger when I was active. Would really prefer capped, but 50+ would be considered.

I have a gym at my work and I run almost every morning before work. I just want something to be able to de-stress with and I remember having loads of fun in the game. I would start over again from scratch, however, I also remember how miserable the low levels were (I am assuming leveling is still extremely slow). The reason for the higher level character is because I always liked to merchant and talk more than hunt. haha

Buy capped and just go to the (many) RP events, hunt, merchant chill. I don’t recommend the many pay events as it can lead to a gambling habit.

When was the last time you played?

If you're not familiar with the Lich scripting engine, you're in for a treat.

As someone who's come back after 20 years just half a year ago - don't do it. Do something more productive with your life. Gemstone is annoyingly addictive.

That is the idea behind getting a capped character, be able to socialize and play without the massive time sink/life altering event. I mean if we are being honest it will probably still take too much of my time, but hey these things happen.

It’s the “chase” that makes the game addictive, chasing after gear mostly but also overcoming a critter or level and so forth. Feeling good about yourself afterwards.

Again darksorc if you want to comeback do so on a capped character and don’t make any silly goals about getting xyz item or achievement. Just hang out with friends and do a little hunting and possibly give yourself a time limit each day, maybe no more than an hour or so.

Koars, this is my plan. Just need to see how the capped character field looks at the moment. I would think even something in the mid 90s would be OK as well, shouldn't take too terribly long to finish off. I find that whenever I have a huge lull in RL pen/paper rpgs, my desire for gemstone 4 comes back.

I don't even know who would still be around from back in the day, but I am sure I will figure that out over the next few days as I see people posting.

It doesn't matter. With Sunfist/Grimswarm you can go anywhere you like.

I find people all over, though. Good time to come back.

Mostly Landing. Icemule is a close second and active socially, while Teras and Illistim are mostly people afking at the usual spots.

I legit do my best to get a run in, no matter what the miles, every day. I am medically retired from the military and was told if I stop being active, I will not ever be active again. Straight line distance running really isn't the problem, however, playing soccer with my son just does not happen (no dynamic movements).
