I helped my mom file hers online today. She was supposed to get like 3000 back but the internet thing only said 2000. So I wasted like 1h30. Thanks, Uncle Sam.

My dad took advantage of some "invest in this company and get money off your taxes." It worked well for 5 years until it was deemed it illegal. So this year he owes 2 grand back this year.... plus back taxes in the amount of 12 grand. So he owes 14 grand this year.....

I owe about 5,000 this year, I hate them.

Long live the referendum that says one person who chooses to work 60 hour weeks and advance themselves has to pay enough to support the needs of 5 McDonalds workers... Bless the democrats!

Yup, I guess working 50+ an hour and having 7 w-2s between my wife and I is cause for punishment. Fucking retarded.

Instead, those McDonalds workers shouldn't be paid a thing and ought to have to FILE Ancitor's taxes as a service to society for being paid so little money. God fucking damn those little sunovabitches.

Sometimes I wish you were poor and starving in Bangladesh. And your parents were just washed away by the Tsunami. And you had warts on your penis.

No love from me Anticor, I owe 2 G's this year. See my earlier thread on the subject for some good advice to avoid the problem in the future, though. http://forum.gsplayers.com/viewthread.php?tid=12544

I figured out what I fucked up in my taxes though, my wife makes so little money that I should have filed my W-2 as married class with higher single withholding and I would have been fine. Changed my withholding by $250 a paycheck.

At least Bush didn't pass any "tax loans" that you get a rebate this year, but you have to pay it all back next year like he did 2 years ago.

I'll probably be doing my taxes next week, got to use my free tax advisor question thing.

But guess what? He isn't. He has every right to complain. By the way, I hope you donate a ton of time and money to the Tsunami.

That's exactly why you had problems, though. Withholding tables do not take in to consideration any previous jobs you've held during the year, raises, bonuses. It takes into consideration what you made during the current pay period only.

If you know that you're switching jobs a lot during the year, you're expecting a huge raise, anything of the like, it is your responsibility to adjust your withholding.

Does it suck? Sure it does. Is it the government's fault? Not really. They can't account for every single possibility when designing idiot proof withholding tables.

The 7 w-2s weren't/aren't from switching jobs. I hold multiple jobs at once because I like a roof over my head and food on the table.

That doesn't change the effect they have on your taxes. I didn't mean to suggest that you were flighty with your employment, just that multiple W-2s usually leads to problems.

Hey Anticor it is worse up here. The Canadian Government wants to implement a national daycare program. This will causes taxes to be raised.

I hate Bush, but am with Tamral on this one. I am sick of paying for other people.

Taxes fucking suck. They pretty much punish you for making money.

We always had someone else do ours, an actual accountant who specializes in small business. Well he died and so my aunt did it.. an accountant for Minolta. We owed 2000 last year and I don't even want to know how this year will go.

All you really need is a good CPA!

And I stress the word.. GOOD. It's because of the cheating greedy bastards (CPA's included as the auditors) that we're suffering through Sarbanes-Oxley and what is arguably the most complicated tax law this country has ever seen.

Good thing I'm an accounting and math major. ohh baby I'm in high demand

well, i work for the government, military, and my wife just filed my taxes (helps to marry a CPA), and i got back a little over 5 grand. And Texas is my Home of Record so i don't have any state taxes.

We got back money last year, getting money back this year, and probably getting some back next year as well.

My idiot store owner screwed up on my forms this year, so we'll have to make up for the state tax they took out, that I told them not to take out, but it's just a hundred bucks or so, compared with the 1800 we're getting back.

Our goal is to have nothing owed and nothing returned, so hubby does the deductions and I claim exempt.
