Anyone else fuck around with this money pit?

Tell me about dem soaps. Currently on Cologne Russe and 42 by Barrister and Mann

I use a straight edge, dry, in the dark. Blood, sweat and tears make a fine lubricant.

I used to just used some cheap ass disposable for a year until it just pulled hairs and then took the next one out of the pack.

I don't see a reason to spend more than is absolutely necessary on hipster face exfoliants or gimmicky razors. Dollar Shave has decent stuff at a fair price, but I have a mega beard so I don't shave anyway.

I don't really shave anymore out of laziness. I trim it when the mustache starts getting too long. When I have to look professional for whatever reason, I have an electric Braun shaver and just take it all off.

I went with Dollar Shave club until I decided to go the electric razor route.

I will say their shaving cream worked very well for me. Kind of on the pricey side but made shaving effortless and painless, whereas some shaving cream I used could sometimes be painful and not as smooth of a shave.

How much are those replacement heads for your space age anodised aluminum monstrosity and how long do they last?

Um, I use a safety razor and I bought a 100 pack of double-edged razors for $8.00 on Amazon. Each one lasts 10-12 shaves? I'm on pace for those 100 razors (for $8) to last just under 4 years.

You have no idea what wet shaving is, do you?

I wet shave. I use a viking razor, honestly can't remember what blades I bought. Got a 100 for like 10 bucks. I did my research when buying it though. I wanna say feather. Viking shaving cream, and some random sandal wood after shave. Have an actual badger hair brush, with a real bone handle. The brush was the most $$$ part of the whole deal.

If you get a cheap brush, I think it's the cheapest way to shave. I shave like once every two weeks and use an electric trimmer once a week. I like the stubble look.

If I wasn't married I'd shave more.

Vikings are super nice.

My badger brush was supposed to be $49.99, but I got a "damaged" one from Stirling. It was half-off and literally the only issue is a chip about the thickness of a dime in the base.

Calling it a money pit was probably disingenuous. I just like buying new soaps, which can add up.

If you're way into it, pick up a nice Barrister and Mann soap. They've all been incredible.

Dude, you're the one completely dropping the ball.

"How much are those replacement heads for your space age anodised aluminum monstrosity and how long do they last?"

The very basic items for wet shaving are a fuckin' safety razor, a shaving brush, and soap.

Those 8 blade cartridges don't come into play at all.

You're acting like a safety razor makes it a fundamentally different experience from a cartrige razor. It's not. You're just scraping hair off your face.

Cheap Bic razor disposable and Cremo. I switched to Cremo two years ago and will never go back to canned stuff. On occasion I will splurge and go to local barber for hot towel and cut throat shave.

It definitely does. Smoother shave and less ingrown hair.

What kind do you have? I've been debating splurging on a vintage straight razor, but a. they're really expensive and b. they're a little scary.

Hah, Cremo Sandalwood Shave Cream was the first soap I picked up.

I'm spoiled on the nice stuff now, but I really dig the way the Cremo smells and still use it on occasion.

I have a legitimate straight razor, the type used in barbershops that offer that type of thing. I have a brush too. You can find some decent ones and use a high-grade whetstone. They aren't so bad as long you go slow and don't force or rush anything. Watch some tutorial videos.

It makes a world of difference for anyone curious.

Shave Mob 3-blade, because I like 3 blades so suck it and as odd as it sounds, I use an Oil of Olay Ultra Moisture Shea Butter bar, just chop that puppy in half, plop it in my cup, and shave in the shower. I like the way it smells and of all the 'soaps' I have tried, it leaves my face the smoothest with no razor burn. But to be fair, I only shave like once a week now, so anything would probably be good compared to when I was shaving daily, stupid military rules.

You gotta try the safety razor, my dude.

I was skeptical AF but it shaves great and doesn't tear up my face like those million-blade atrocities.

I only use Minor Fire when I shave.

Why isn’t Latrin here though? He could offer some great shaving advice for the ladies.

Dudes.

I am trying so fucking hard to not give myself a reverse Hitler, but it keeps happening. And I am mad as fuck. If I try using a straight razor, I will open up every single main vein in my face. Then, with the one-blade disposables, I then need to open up every single main vein in my face -- just in order to create a small part in the center of my moustache and then round it on the top and bottom just a little bit. I have made 12803498393 shaving posts on these forums and I apologize to everyone.

Goodbye. Forever.

Dude, Ive been shaving for almost two decades before I found out this trick.

Get your fingers and on your upper lip pinch the area you want to expose. Works great for that arch on your upper lip but you can do it anywhere.
