Seems a newborn infant was tossed out of a moving car (report approx. 5mph) while bundled in blankets with a plastic bag wrapped around its head. This was reported today in Ft. Lauderdale FL.

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING????!!!???

The baby has been upgraded from critical to serious and continues to make improvements to its condition while in the NICU of a local hospital.

I hope they catch the two people who were in the car that the baby was thrown out of and seek the maximum charges/sentence possible... then they need to surgically alter both persons so they will never have children again in case they do make it out of prison alive.

Behavior like this makes me embarrased to belong to the human race.

We can hope, but quite frankly, I don't understand the judicial system right now. There was a story last night about a woman who killed her own baby, and the only punishment she's getting is she's getting sterilized to not have more children. No psychiatric help, no jail time. Nada. However the ho teacher is probably going to jail for quite a while. :wtf:

Match the punishment to the crimes, goddamnit!

People go to jail for a fair while for drugs, too. Sort've ridiculous. I know of a fellow who plea-bargained down to 2 years for kidnapping.

Um yeah, that's sad. Doing drugs only affects you personally while things like kidnapping, rape, MURDER is harmful to society which is the reason for incarceration. Or that's what I thought. :?:

Only affects you as far as drugs are concerned? You've got to be fucking kidding me or never knew anyone that has battled with drugs. Please learn about real life or log out.

Doing something this insane should earn them at least an attempted murder charge. We can hope.

I was referring to the obvious harm you do to someone else. Not the obscure, not so obvious harm that is done when an individual does drugs. But you knew that's that I meant didn't you?

This was a horrible crime. That baby is lucky to be alive. I hope they throw the book at them.

If they didn't want that child, 1000's of childless couples would have been happy to provide it with love and a home. The waiting list for adoption is massive.

Personally I couldn't give a rat's ass if these two were doing drugs. That isn't an excuse. Addict or no addict you are responsible for your actions in this world.

I couldnt agree with you more. End the end you are always, always, always responsible for your actions... not your parent's, your doctor's, not your inner child, not because you were drunk, disabled, or temporarily insane, no excuses, no nada... Its YOUR responsibility to act appropriately.

Once again, Jadewolff, I really doubt you know what you are talking about. I forgive you for this.

Okay, Arkans. Which has done more throughout history to harm the world. Marijuana or alcohol.

And fuck you if you don't believe I've seen the effects of either. Conservative types always talk about taking responsibility. If someone screws up or rots their brain while smoking up, it's their responsibility just like someone who stupefies themself with alcohol and kills their liver, beats their kid, or has an auto accident.

No shit, Warriorbird? Did you also know red wine stains a white rug? How about that the sky is blue? I thought we'd just state the obviouse.

I'm here calling out the bullshit that drugs only harm the person. It's dogshit that just doesn't have wings to fly on.

Yeah really, 5mph? Who the hell drives that slow while throwing children?

I go at least 45 when I do that

I've just always thought it was nonsense that we locked people up for as long as we do for it, before they actually did anything wrong... yet if I feel like it I can get drunker than hell and maybe spend at the most a night in jail.

Back to the core of the matter. These people should be locked up a long damn time. If they couldn't cope they should've just damn well left it near an orphanage or something.

They should be given whatever is given with attempted murder. Simple as that. No extra punishment or anything like that. I just don't see the need.

I must have been unclear as to what I was posting about.

My opinion: People that do drugs should spend less time in jail then murders, rapists, kidnappers.

This was, of course, in response to Warriorbird speaking of a kidnapper that was only charged with 2 years in jail.

I mistakenly thought my point was obvious which is why I assumed you were purposely misrepresenting my words in your response.

Thank you so much for your forgiveness!

I think it all depends on the drug in question. Should a pot smoker be given the same (any) time as someone that is booting up 20 ccs of heroin? Probably not. Sending drug users to jail is a tricky debate for me, drug dealers on the other hand, should get their asses slammed to the wall.

the thing that bothers me is there are so many people who would gladly adopt a baby

The mere fact that a drug *user* would receive more time than a confessed or convicted murderer is ludicris. We know it happens.

This is saddening. Each day I'm amazed by the stupidity of people with their children. To throw a baby out of a moving vehicle.. I hope that the parents get the worse.

Seems as the story has been developing that the witness to the 'incident' is actually the mother of the infant and it was never thrown from a vehicle. Talk about a 180 degree twist to the original report.

I hope they submit the mother for psych evaluation while they determine whats in the best interest of the child as far as parenting goes.

It almost sounds like MUNCHAUSEN BY PROXY (MBP) syndrome.

Train a dog, much cheaper in the long run and they are great for picking up chicks.

02-11-2005, 10:32 PM
Hrm... I need an obedient dog. My two now just kind of do what they want and smell like feet.
