Formula:

UAC Damage Taken = (1- Redux Factor) * Total Calculated Damage

Example

UAF: 154 vs UDF: 116 = 1.327 * MM: 100 + d100: 81 = 213
... and hit for 106 points of damage!
Amazing kick goes through abdomen without slowing, sending stomach flying out through the back!

Redux Factor: 0.200
Kick DF vs cloth: 0.400
ER success margin: 113 (213 - 100)
Calculated raw damage: 45 (113 * 0.4)
Crit damage: 88 (Kick R11 Abdomen Crit)
Total calculated damage: 133 (45 raw + 88 crit)
Actual damage taken: 106

UAC damage = (1 - 0.200 redux factor) * 133 total calc damage = 106 actual damage

This is not the same formula that is used with AS-based attacks. Redux is more effective against AS damage then UAC damage. If this was an AS-based attack the damage taken would have been no more than 100 with a high probability of a lower crit outcome.

Do you think this is a bug or an intended feature? Any guesses?

Bc uac isnt available to critters, its likely unbalanced vs padding. Then again some critters have native padding so better get a NIR

I don't think it's a bug. UAC criticals have ranges based on position (Decent R1 to R5), (Good R4 to R8), (Excellent R7 to R11). I think, because of this arbitrary limiting factor, a modified damage reduction formula was implemented.

This attack was posted by Rolfard and commented on by Finros in the Unarmed Combat topic. Actual damage taken was 21 points but the calculated damage is 30 points (6 raw + 24 crit) which clearly demonstrates a redux factor of approximately .300. Since Finros knew that the target had redux, I believe he would have noted that it was a bug at that time.

You attempt to kick target!
You have good positioning against target.
UAF: 152 vs UDF: 497 = 0.305 * MM: 73 + d100: 98 = 120
... and hit for 21 points of damage!
Flying axe kick seriously rattles Picler's noggin.
He is stunned!
Strike leaves foe vulnerable to a target jab attack!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Resulted in a second degree head wound. (target is a rogue with capped redux wearing FGB)

I'm in the process of updating the UAC critical tables to include a status effect (induced roundtime) that can only be observed by the target of an unarmed strike. Neither the combat panel nor the messaging give any indication to the attacker that the target has suffered an RT penalty. It's a relatively low percentage of criticals that have this unique status effect association. I've completed both the JAB and GRAPPLE tables and updated the wiki. I've been unable to determine if/how creatures are affected by these RTs.

Here are a couple of examples from the target's POV:

UAF: 164 vs UDF: 170 = 0.964 * MM: 78 + d100: 92 = 167
... and hit for 61 points of damage!
Spine snaps like a dry twig!

It seems you have died, my friend. Although you cannot do anything, you are keenly aware of what is going on around you...

You mentally give a sigh of relief as you remember that the Goddess Lorminstra owes you a favor.

...departing in 14 mins...
Roundtime: 20 sec.

UAF: 164 vs UDF: 126 = 1.301 * MM: 73 + d100: 16 = 111
... and hit for 31 points of damage!
Good blow to gut disturbs last night's dinner! You suddenly go pale!
You are stunned for 6 rounds!
Roundtime: 10 sec.

"I've been unable to determine if/how creatures are affected by these RTs"

Do you need a group of UAC'ers to all jab a monster until you get observe RT inducing criticals from everyone in the group, and see if the monster is rate locked as a result (which would imply that the small RT result from each player stacked for an observable RT locking effect on the monster)?

It appears that the RT penalty does not stack on itself but refreshes. Tested with two back-to-back R11 Grapple Back criticals (20 sec RT each) on a golem. Whether or not it stacks with other RT adders would need to be tested individually. I know for certain that it did not stack with Bind (214). Also, noncorps, that I tested, were immune to the RT effect.

The total number of UAC criticals that induce RT as a status effect.

JAB: 15 of 143
GRAPPLE: 25 of 143
PUNCH: 7 of 143
KICK: 3 of 143

TOTAL: 50 of 572 (8.75%)

Where 143 is the total number of unique critical rank/body location combinations for each damage type.

Edited to add list of criticals with roundtime status effects (RT with number of seconds).
