A lot of hockey players are getting only 1 year contract, since there will be surely a lock out in 2005.

Same goes with baseball, i think, a bit later..

Seriously, what the futur of those 2 sports? a cap à la football? bankrupt?

The father of one of my ex was a hockey player, man, he received HUGE compensation still, wish i didn't stoped at pee-wee :moon:

I think a cap like football would be great for sports. If you look at football the teams are very equal generally. In baseball the evil Yankee's just buy all the good players and the ones they dont the red sox buy.

I don't know about a cap. I just find it funny in cases such as the New York Rangers trying to buy a cup. Kovalev, Lindros, Carter... and they still suck. Same goes for the red wings, The only wing I respect is Yzerman, considering he could barely walk and he still strapped on the pads and played. I think a lot of my disdain for the wings comes from Federov, he's a wuss and in it all for himself, not the team.

Hockey is in trouble. Baseball is not. Look at the marketing aspect.

I have the utmost respect for all the Red Wings. Look at the players who have came and wanted to play in Detroit. Everyone takes a pay cut. Federov was a very overpayed player without a doubt. But he was a good player. I am glad Detroit got rid of him because he doesn't fit in anyplace in their lineup.

The Rangers on the other hand are like the Yankees in baseball. But cannot win.

I don't see how you figure baseball is not in trouble, hockey fills up their stadiums, baseball does not even come close. Look where Illich focuses his money, on his hockey franchise (redwings) rather than his baseball (tigers). Lets just hope the lockout doesn't last too long, otherwise i better get a discount on my center ice package.
