I didn't but a friend of mine did and stopped by to game share it for a bit. It's pretty solid. Much more neutral/footsie based than MKX. It was online only so couldn't really fuck around and practice much, but I saw a couple clips of Baraka doing some insane corner combos.

Said friend is supposedly getting some early copies too, so if that ends up happening I'll have the game as early as March 31. He's come through with early copies on MKX and both Injustice games, so we'll see.

Also reported to Ed Boon's eyebrows for not giving me your beta code since you had to work.

I don't think microtransactions are up yet but even just the in game currency system is as grindy as it can get from what I've been reading. I haven't messed with it yet.

None of the microtransactions are going to affect ranked/competitive gameplay. Should all be cosmetic stuff that you can still unlock with in game currency. I'm not sure if they're even doing microtransactions I think people are just assuming they'll be there in some form.

MK4 and the shitty 3D MK games on PS2 were all retconned, but still slightly referenced because time travel and different timelines and all that.

It's just cut scenes that lead to matches which lead to more cut scenes. The links I posted just cut out the matches and go from one cut scene to the next.

If anyone hasn't heard, there's a bug in the Krypt right now where you can open the spiked head fatality chests outside of Goro's Lair for free. When you press the X button (on PS4) to enter the Krypt, keep holding it down until you go into the Krypt and up to one of the spiked head chests, and it will open that chest. Leave the Krypt and come back to open another, etc. You have to keep holding X (or equivalent confirm key) after selecting Krypt all the way until you get to the chest.
