I am assuming the most beneficial use for a claid with a ton of weighting would be in CvC where you would be fighting others with lots of crit padding on their armor.

Is there a certain point where the amount of crit weighting is no longer factored into a hit?

Edited to add: This post is in no way a complaint against this awesome sword. I just wish to understand the exact benefits of having that much weighting on a weapon.

Get higher criticals with the lowest roll possible. Used to be in GS3 that claids with beyond incredible weighting will easily get a sever stun on any hit over 140 from the open.

That waraxe is pretty sweet

Would the extra weighting negate the randomness of the new Crit system, or simply weight it. Meaning, are you always assured atleast a certain minimum crit on a certain endroll due to the immense amount of weighting on the blade?

No, the randomness is factored in after the crit rank is calculated from DF vs. Armor/crit divisor, and I think padding as well. And the maximum is a rank 9 no matter what. So the minimum would be a rank 5, which is not always instant death.

I've seen Bob get death crits on incredibly low end rolls from the open (110-120 range)

I was saying as a general rule. Claids could crit as low as 109. But it wasn't 100% of the time. With a 140 or higher, I could say with 99% confidence the creature is getting something severed or killed.

I saw Xinister kill some critter with a claid on a 108 endroll in GS3 one time. My lowest was 109.

Battle axe had the lowest threashhold. I forget if it was 107 or 108.

Lance had the lowest threshold. Right now I think the lowest you can get a crit kill with a claid is 112. I've done 112 or 113, I can't recall off the top of my head. Extra weighting on a claid is pretty useful on something in heavier armour but has been somewhat reduced since crit-randomization rolled in. Not to say I wouldn't love the weapon.

Anyhow "4. a glaes-hafted heavy granite stormhammer. Activates several wicked spells. " How much do you want for that Tsin?

The stormhammer is a two hander. Casts self mana call wind/quake and Storm. A unique powerful area spell that hits everything in the area.

You grasp the heavy granite stormhammer firmly by the leathern straps and spin it in front of you. The stormhammer spins faster and faster until it becomes a blur of motion.

As you manipulate your stormhammer, a scintillating silver aura engulfs you.
A gust of wind tugs at your sleeves. Suddenly, a fierce wind rips through the area, scattering everything in its path and making it difficult to remain standing.
A rolton is knocked over by the wind.
A kobold is knocked over by the wind.
The wind then subsides.

You feel the heavy granite stormhammer drawing mana from you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You raise the heavy granite stormhammer high in the air and then smash it down upon the ground. A thunderous din rings in your ears as the stormhammer makes contact with the ground throwing dirt and rock everywhere. A shockwave emanates from the epicenter of the stormhammer and ripples outward.

A kobold is overcome by the shockwave.
... 30 points of damage!
Control of body lost. The kobold falls to the ground stunned.
It is knocked to the ground!
The kobold is stunned!

A kobold is overcome by the shockwave.
... 25 points of damage!
The kobold's hand injured grasping for support.
It is knocked to the ground!
The kobold is stunned!

You concentrate on projecting the illusion of a violent quake.
Suddenly, the ground seems steadier.

You feel the heavy granite stormhammer drawing mana from you.

The lowest in GS4 is about 109. Theres plenty of low endrol death crits on the Ambush folder.

Besides that jeddart axe are there any other polearms considered high end?

StrayRogue

A few others. Self-mana call wind awl pike springs to mind. The voln polearm, a few high enchant, highly weighted ones, two of the three pure imflass weapons that could be HURLed for Major Bolt attacks.

I did a quick check and these are all the high end poles I could find Anticor:

An enruned white ora Hammer of Kai
A 2x polearm self-mana Prayer when raised, only 13 mana per use, NOT double mana and zero chance of failure.

An Immolation Jeddart-Axe

A Voln Jeddart-axe

1 mana Call Wind Pilum

A brilliant blue coraesine war lance etched along the shaft with the image of an armored knight on horseback 8x with acid flares

A 5x VHCW scythe. Lance based.

A pure imflass spear, a pure imflass javelin: One when you tapped it on the ground it made a very big boom, like thunder. Another when raised, and another also that I'm forgetting.

It used the HURL verb to cast Cone of Lightning a certain number of times per day, and were also normal +12 with nasty lightning flares.

The script when HURLed was the best...

As you hurl your javelin into the open sky, static crackles and builds in the air around you. The hair on the nape of your neck begins to rise, as a thunderous roar sears through the area. The javelin transforms itself into a pure bolt of coursing electricity, blasting its way through the entire room!

You hurl a powerful lightning bolt at a velnalin!
AS: +137 vs DS: +26 with AvD: +51 + d100 roll: +45 = +207
... and hit for 152 points of damage!
Hideously bright electrical bolt sends right leg into another universe. Happy traveling. A velnalin screams and falls to the ground grasping its mangled right leg! The velnalin hisses one last time and dies. The guiding force leaves you.

Instinctively you raise your hand in the air seizing the stream of lightning in your fist. Slowly tightening your grip, you bring the weapon back under control, returning it to the true form of a javelin.

Heh, you'll be lucky to find most of those. Oh and the Javelin and Spear are broken these days ;)

damn, any word on who owns that scythe or 8x lance?

AnticorRifling

Yeah those would be the only two I'd want. Call wind doesn't do me much good and prayer I have in a rechargable orb.

Nanna owns the scythe, and about 90% of all the best pole arms in the game. A bard named Anissah owns/owned the 8x coraesine lance.

Ball park range on the jeddart axe? I'd be nice for collection but not that practical for me since I need enchant for my AS and heal 2 isn't something I'd use a ton.

Can't say for the spear, but the javelin isn't entirely broken.

It's a thrown weapon instead of a pole, though.

But the HURL activated command was fixed - it can be HURLed like a thrown weapon or TOSSed to throw a Cone now.
