No.

A Red Sox World Series AND Patriot Superbowl both in the same year?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!! The forces of nature could not be so cruel.

Something must be done before these beanfuckers actually begin to strut their stuff like they own something.

Piss poor clock management was a key to the loss.

Blazing247
02-06-2005, 10:53 PM
PB, you mean it's NOT a good idea to catch a pass in bounds with under a minute on the clock? Haha. First, I'm not sure why McChoke threw that, second, why did Westrbrook catch it? They had a chance, they blew it. Dynasty.

My game thoughts:

McNabb played extremely well under the given circumstances. Philly was unable to run the ball to any degree, and once you get one dimensional, it is very difficult to beat anyone, let alone a well coached defense that knows how to play it better than anyone else.

New England was able to run the ball a little, but that little was more than enough, and once again. New England is a machine. Not because they outplay everyone, because they don't. Pittsburgh controlled the line of scrimmage both times against the Pats. Several teams this year were able to keep the team in check. They are a machine because, here's the key now: They don't make mistakes. Even when Brady had the fumble, he fell right on top of it. Philly just beat the piss out of him in the pile and stole it. Credit Philly and credit Owens for playing their hearts out. They had their chances. McNabb threw a bad pick on their first drive deep into New England territory. He threw one again but got an illegal contact penalty to help him out. Two of the three picks were entirely his fault, but your average defense only comes away with one of those.

I don't think of them as a dynasty so much as simply a solid team that plays team football better than anyone else. Philly made some mistakes. That was some too many.

The biggest difference in the game is the fact that Corey Dillon can block and Brian Westbrook can't.

crazymage
02-06-2005, 11:14 PM
Um pats dominated the steelers on both sides of the line of scrimmage in the championship game.

Don't know what game you were watching but you might want to re-wind the game on you Tivo or VHS and spot the blocks BWest did have.

He was solid blocking the entire game.

New England ran 31 times for 128 yards against Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh ran 37 times for 163.

New England's 2 biggest rushes were Deion Branch on end arounds.

I re-iterate. New England didn't make mistakes. They didn't outplay them.

To addend to it, they should be a heavy favorite to win again next year, as this years draft positively stinks.

Yeah it went like 16 yards.

You can't credit McNabb's lack of performance completely to NE's defense. The defense didnt make him overthrow multiple recievers, underthrow others, making crappy decisions to throw downfield into coverage instead of tossing it out of bounds etc...

NE played a very good game however I think had McNabb had a decent game the Eagles would have pulled the win. Maybe we will get our rematch next year.

Pats made a bunch of mistakes last night, but they won nontheless.

I am sick of people not respecting the Pats..they are a dynasty. Even the people on Fox were blabbing about the Eagles non stop all night..

It's because New England Sucks

Parkbandit
02-07-2005, 08:07 AM
The key to the Eagles loss was poor clock management ala poor coaching. Three different occasions, the Eagles had to be in a 2 minute drill and weren't.

End of the first half.. what the FUCK were they trying to accomplish there? Either sit on the ball or don't.. don't do both.

From 6 minutes left and they were down by 10.. WTF are you doing in a god damn huddle? WTF are you doing running the ball?

1 minute left.. enough said.

Sorry, I blame this loss squarely on Reid's shoulders.

Ilvane
02-07-2005, 09:12 AM
heh, I find it hysterical that you say New England sucks..Three Super Bowls in 4 years.

Shaddup!

Parkbandit

Exactly. To all the nitpickers out there that can only find fault with New England ONLY winning 3 superbowls by a total of 9 points:

STFU already. 3 Superbowl wins in the past 4 years = Dynasty. Arguing that makes you look like you know nothing about the history of the game.

Hulkein
02-07-2005, 09:27 AM
They are a dynasty. Who is denying it?

By 9 points, that's all.

New England fans don't really care anyway, it's like winning indoor soccer for them.

Edited to add -

Go Sox.

<To addend to it, they should be a heavy favorite to win again next year, as this years draft positively stinks.>

Considering what they did while being so injury ridden (Law really hurts), I would agree with that. You can tell that they do so well because their good players (besides Brady and Vinatieri none are really exceptional) are exceptionally well coached. They just know what to do and when to do it.

Hulkein

Losing their Offensive and Defensive coordinators will hurt.

They still have a good chance though.

And all of the other comments ...

This isn't a competition of hand grenades or a presidential election ... it's a football game.

When the whistle blows at the end of the fourth ... the game is over (unless tied).

Woulda shoulda couldas don't matter at this point. To quote one of my favorite linemen, Dan Hampton, "When the scores are listed in the morning paper, there isn't a U, for ugly, next to the bolded capitol W that indicates a win.

So ya. NE outplayed Philly in every aspect of the game ... hence the W, big fucking trophy, and matching rings come next season.

Philly gets the runner up honors; well the fans do, of crying over shit that doesn't matter.

Exactly what I thought of the game and the team.

Parkbandit
02-07-2005, 11:59 AM
Doesn't matter what YOU classify as a dynasty or not... history will include them into the group due to their win/loss record and their Superbowl record.

If you classify the Cowboys of the 90's and the 49ers of the 80's, you will need to classify these Patriots. I have yet to see a place where these 2 teams are not included in the Dynasty talk.

Go Patriots! That was a great game, btw. Just surprised how long it took the Eagles to do plays in the 4th quarter. Not sure what the hell THAT was about. Just play, damnit! You don't have time for a group hug, you're getting pwned!!
