So I started my aquarium back up. 50 gallon tank, right now I just have 4 big snails in it. I'm wanting to get some plants, anyone have any suggestions?
I might get a couple of freshwater shrimp and maybe a couple other bottom feeders/algae eaters in the future.
This is freshwater btw.

Aquariums are awesome but a pain in the ass. At least, the one I had was. I killed a lot of fish before I was done.
I'm the boogeyman that fish scare their offspring with.

I'm not really planning on getting any fish anytime soon, and if I do it'll just be the algae eating sort. Right now with the snails all I have to do is replace 1/4th of the water each week and check the pH and it is golden. I've read that the plants help out too, but I also want it to look neat.

I now have two plants and 11 ghost shrimp in there. Planning to get more plants and ghost shrimp over the coming weeks.

If you decide to get some algae eaters I recommend otocinclus catfish. They don't get too big and they're fun to watch.

I just added in two golden dojo loaches. They're pretty neat. I also noticed that I now have 5 mystery snails. I have no idea where the 5th one came from (it is a baby). Supposedly they have tons at a time, so I don't think it is from them. Might have been hiding in one of the plants I got.
