How about the people who would like some content rather than clicking on a random link to see someone else's point on a subject. If I wanted to read specific articles on any topic I could simply do a web search.

We are a diverse group and we all have threads we like and dislike. It takes a second to click on a thread title, let it load up and realise its not a thread you are interested in, then click on todays topics again. I do it all the time with sports topics and you don't see me complaining about it.

It's called hovering over the link. Look it up. I started doing it when goatse links first started around.
