The mere fact that she spoke against the President is all the credit I can give her. She couldn't shut the fuck up and interrupted that FOX chick multiple times. Not only that, she did it with the most beef wellington attitude I've seen on TV. Her argument wasn't impressive, either. It's amazing how she managed to say two unique things forty different ways.
FOX Chick wins by default.

Actually, after watching it again, I'd say they both interrupted each other a good amount of times. Not to mention, the Fox chick cut her off completely when the argument wasn't going the right way.

The inaguration bill is excessive, to say the least. I'm disappointed in what Dubya thinks is appropriate at this time.

I thought the Fox lady did fine. I thought that the Vanity Fair lady sounded bitchy. (She reminded me of my sister)
I think that during a time of war, the inauguration was excessive. But I am not at all surprised.
Come on 2008!

I actually loved how the Vanity Fair chick was like, "oh, I'm sure the soliders piecing together scrap metal for protection will be thrilled to know that the inaguration was so great." (Not an exact quote, obviously).

Want to make a bet now?
I think two women will run. Rice and Clinton. Clinton will not win because unless she goes moderate with her VP and chooses a republican she has no chance.

I saw that as the Vanity Fair person being nothing but a little bitch who wanted to push her own agenda and get in her 5 minutes of fame.
Congrats. You were a famous stupid bitch. For a full 5 minutes.
And Condi won't run for Pres. Neither will Jeb Bush.

I'll take that bet. How much? I guarantee you that Rice won't run and I doubt Clinton will make it past the primaries... so neither one will be the nominee of their party.

And as far as being famous stupid bitches, conservatives luuuuv Fox News. It's standard Fox style tactics.
I'd vote for Giuliani. He's the man, except when it comes to defending police officers that shoot minorities to the tune of 34034934903 excess bullets, but other than that, he was a good mayor.

No, it was a Fox tactic gone terribly wrong.
They decided to interview someone for a fluff piece on the inaugural festivities. They probably expected someone to comment on the people attending, the food, the music, or whatever. What they got was an educated person they couldn't shut up fast enough.
Fox came through in the end though. They cut her ASAP for not being another mouth piece for the far right. Had it been fluff and powder; she would have been given more time.

I don't think they cut her quick enough. She knew what the story was about, but instead decided to "show everyone" by not answering the interview questions and instead promoting her own ideals and opinions. She was a stupid bitch and came across like one on camera.

To be honest with you.. I watch very little news. I will watch 30 minutes of the NBC Evening News and then maybe 15 minutes of the Today show. I watch NBC because I do like the liberal spin so I can laugh.. but it's not so sickening ala CBS that it makes me want to throw things at the screen. To fault Fox for doing the same thing.. only in the opposite direction.. would be hypocritical.

Agree with Tsa'ah here. FOX probably thought they’d get some fluff from someone at Vanity Fair.
I bolded what I thought was interesting in your response, PB. So is it that fact that she expressed her opinion (a right I thought we all had) or was it about what that opinion was?

It was the fact that they discussed the purpose of the story and what her role in this story would be. She chose to ignore the story and spout her own opinions about the war in Iraq.
We are certainly entitled to our own opinions.. but we all have a certain mechanism in our brain that tells us when it's appropriate to give them.
It's called tact. The definition is: "Acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending."
She is either without this important mechanism or simply chose to ignore it.
It would be like me going to church to appease a relative.. and during the sermon, standing up and saying that there was no real God and that they are all stupid for believing there was.
It's my opinion that there is no God.. but since I DO have tact.. it would be something I would never do.

Anyone seen the "Outfoxed" movie? Very amusing and informative. And most of the people being interviewed are ex-FoxNews personalities.
You can rent it from Blockbuster or just find a copy on the internet.
Yeah sorry... tack my ass. It was brilliantly tacky and shocking and they weren't prepared for this woman from Vanity Fair to actually have an opposing opinion not in sync with either public opinion or the opinion of Fox news.

One of the media experts even makes the comparison between Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes (of the show dubbed Hannity and Colmes, which follows O'Reilly's show) whereby Hannity (the staunch conservative) is a good looking All American boy and Colmes (the liberal) is a "squirrely looking guy."

Actually, I didn't see it as her using the forum to discuss her views on the war in Iraq. She was simply using the war as a supporting reason behind her opinion that the inaguration expenditure was way out of control. She was advocating that the money go to something USEFUL, like buying stuff for the troops.

I have no problem with her opinion, her use of FDR or anything else. My problem with her was the way she ambushed the host and how she simply used it to promote her own ideals and opinions. It certainly doesn't surprise me.. as it is a common tactic used by your side.

Except they don't. Most of the other news sources are biased, but Fox is blatantly so. They get viewers off publically attacking the other stations on the air. They have news personalities shamelessly shill for advertisers. It's brilliant.
Take the Dan Rather thing. Fox makes news out of personal opinions every day. They're still talking about it happening once in another station.
Sure, I think the other news stations are hidebound hypocrities. I agree with many of Jon Stewart's most violent critiques. They need to step their game up and be like Fox, because they're all biased anyways.

So it's ok when the host ambushes the guest? It's OK when a reported ambushes someone during a press conference?
It's tit for tat PB. Fox has a long running history of ambushing anyone during an interview when it doesn't go their way, or misleading guests with a topic and ambushing with another when they are opposed to the conservative mold.
Warriorbird

Fox News != 'No Spin Zone'
News != Entertainment show
Tsa`ah

It's all entertainment, it's all for ratings.
The true no-spin outlets are blurbs on the social radar. They don't get the ratings, they don't get the advertising dollar, and they don't get the interest.
One thing the US media has learned is that there is money in the spin. Pick the left or right spin and you pick up a pay check.
We all *know* that whoever's news agency we disagree with the most does infact have the most probable chance of being spun, biased and made up. THIS IS FACT...because I said so.:P

Its neocon brainwashing to label any news agency that reports something they don’t like as liberal media.
