I knew a China-centered TW was coming. I wonder how different the factions will be though, the minor unit differences were the weakest aspect of Shogun 2.

No idea why, but I read this as Total War: Three Klingons. Multiple times. Was wondering how that would work.

Were the klingons around uranus?

Eh, it'll be about as interesting as Shogun, I think. All the factions will probably be pretty much the same. I imagine it'll be open for a Mongol expansion though which would be cool. Asian history just never really interested me a lot.

It'll be interesting to see how this compares to the Romance of the Three Kingdom strategy games. I've kept my ps2 around alone to keep playing ROTK games at times.

Did any of you get to participate in the survey Creative Assembly had last month? Supposedly they were asking questions if people would be interested in a scifi TW game.

The questions they were asking were less about the kinds of games you play and more about how much money you make and how long you've lived in your house. I answered about 10 of those but gave up because I had a suspicion they were just trying to market me more stuff.

I did the survey. It was more about what you liked about games they already did, not necessarily if you'd like a new game based on whatever. I did the whole thing.

So how much of your life did you waste doing that?

about 10 minutes. I was expecting a reward. I got nothing.

Never said it was. But they did ask about things people would like to see in future games.

Haven't really been following this too closely, but apparently you will have the choice between a more realistic campaign, and one where the generals can become more like their counterparts in Dynasty Warriors

That is cool. I mean, I'm still going to get the game, because I know I'll enjoy playing it regardless of where it is set, I just which is wasn't China. With how the ME campaign is shaping up in TWWH, I'd like a global Total War that is similar, maybe set around the Victorian Age up to WW1 or so. Lot of stuff going on everywhere.

Still not too sure if I'm excited for this or not. Britannia was a bit boring. Releases in about a month.

This is going to be a lot more content than Britannia. There are a lot of pretty awesome changes to diplomacy and the two different types of campaign modes seems cool. They've gotten a lot more in depth with it. I'm hoping for a Mongol expansion later.

I didn't think I'd be hyped for the game, because I couldn't give 2 fucks about China, but the let's plays and reveals make me want it.

Is there an army list somewhere? I just want the armies to be varied and interesting.

Not that I've seen. What is neat, the units you can recruit vary based on the Commander they are attached to. Each commander can field a retinue of 6 units, and each army can have 3 commanders.

And the commander's visual appearance change based on what armor/weapons and stuff you put on them.

Delayed until May 23rd, which is great. I don't think their historical side could afford another launch like Rome 2 had, and there are so many new systems being added. Apparently the AI is more retarded than it should be and the dueling creates a huge impassable circle that units can't go through. ON a large open battlefield it isn't an issue, but in city maps and stuff it is very problematic.

You could also click the duel button on a distant enemy commander, and he'd break ranks and beeline toward your commander. Probably an easy fix, but damn.

He'd actually run through your entire army too and die a lot of the time on the way there.

The records mode looks okay I guess. I'll probably mostly do the Romance mode, because the game from inside and out is built around those characters... Them just being rando generals just doesn't seem right.

Watching more and more of these streams, I'm excited for it. Looks like a lot more added complexity over previous total wars. It isn't my top time period or location, but I am highly anticipating the release. That delay was definitely a good idea. Preordered, btw.

I got it. The presentation is really slick, but the UI is so different from previous TW titles and is confusing.

Combat is like the other titles, but they brought formations and larger city sieges back which is great. Also there's a 'demand surrender' thing you can do if you outmatch an enemy that may have been around previously. Duels are fun to watch, but it feels like they're too hands-off, you should be able to affect the outcome via abilities or something, maybe you can, I dunno.

Oh, AI can still 'retreat' further than your army can move, WHAT THE FUCK CA

Installed the Radious mod. Amaze balls new experience. I am playing Kong Rong, Tao Ying decided to declare war on me because he is an asshole or something. Whatever. I'm banking like 16k a turn as Kong Rong so I have a super amazeballs army. I march down there and he has a full stack in a farm. I hit that, it was a level 4 farm, so it was a settlement, whatever. I'm about 3500 men vs his 8600, so almost a fair fight. I stick my 6 spear guards into turtle and set my trebs to fire, they take down about 2k of them. I march my spear guards up and with my 4 archers/2 crossbow units continue to whittle them down. By the time I'm out of ammo, they are down to about 4k troops. I send in my spear guards and we hit a stalemate because turtle spear guards are a great anvil, but they can't kill for shit. After about 10 minutes of watching this, I say fuck it and charge my 4 units of Jian Guard Cav straight through the center and just keep pushing... They manage to break through to the other side. After that I wiped out all their archers and then turned back around and performed a proper hammer and anvil.

40 minutes battle, was one of the funnest I've had in a long time.

Oh, and blood pack is coming out on the 27th. They are adding in more animations with it as well.

First DLC coming out on 8 August. Quick turnaround time on that. Probably because they made a shit load of money on the game.

Enjoy the trailer, now with extra asian.
