I was just wondering, what can make you feel like.. really touched? Like a sad scene in a movie or book, a letter? For example, watching the scene of pearl harbor where they're trying to rescue all the people after the Japanese attacks... it's just so sad and it made me upset and touched. So.. what does it for you?

Depends on my condition..when I was pregnant I cried at movies, commercials, anything really.. however as a normal human being once more..I would have to say that I seem to cry at the same spot in movies I watch no matter how many times I see it. The scene in ET where Elliot thinks ET is dead, the scene in Pay it Forward where the townsfolk show up with candles for a vigil of her son, the scene in When a Man Loves a Woman where Meg Ryan does her AA speech about her husband, and the scene in City of Angels where Meg Ryan dies after Nicholas Cage finally becomes human to be with her.. just to name a few. I have seen all of those movies a dozen or more times and still cry, knowing that it's coming hehe. Go figure, I'm a wuss. *smirks*

Hmmm...in that movie "Radio Flyer", where the mother's boyfriend beats her two sons and put's the youngest one (about 5 years old) in the hospital. Then after that, a couple weeks go by and she gets back with him. I cried because I felt bad for her sons. Then I was pissed off at the mom for being such an idiot for going back to that bastard! Sadly shit like that happens though, some people choose bastards over their children. Yeah that pissed me off and I wanted to reach in the screen and rip her fuckin' head off! Rawrrrr!!!!

There was a commercial years ago, McDonald's I believe, where a little girl left a card on the piano for her teacher. I cried. No clue why.
Radio Flier? Cried. ET? Cried. City of Angels? Screamed, yelled, cursed it out, and barely spoke for 3 days. GODS I hate that movie. I was beyond crying.

I also cried at the Little Mermaid in the end where she hugs her dad. I'm a total daddy's girl.
I've been a little nostalgic for home since I've only lived here five months (and this is the first time I've ever lived outside Flagstaff). So sometimes I get upset about missing home.
Any movie or book where animals get hurt or die cuts me deep. Kill all the people you want, leave the animals alone.

I think the most I ever cried in a movie was "My Girl" when the little boy died. My friend and I embarrassed our kids we were sobbing so hard. Steel Magnolia's and Terms of Endearment always gets to me too. But like Harmnone I've been known to cry in commercials.
OH... ever see the movie of the week with Ann Margaret, based on a true story of a woman who gave away all her children before she died of cancer. Ohmystars!
Songs? Bonnie Raitt's song about one more night before he leaves her, cry every time I hear it.

My mother used to preview anything I was going to read before she would let me read it. She did not care about sexual situations. She was much more concerned about whether or not I would end up crying my eyes out for a week. :D

I have not seen that, Spun. However, I read a book about whales once (wish I could remember the name of it). It was about blue whales, and began with a male and female blue whale finding one another (not an easy task, as rare as they are) and producing a little one. Then, the mother got killed by whalers.
By the time my husband got home, I was hysterical and unable to explain to him what was wrong. He found the book on the floor at my feet and figured it out all by himself. Took me hours to be even close to coherant.

Every night in my dreams
I see you. I feel you.
That is how I know you go on.
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on.
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never go till we're one
Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
You're here, there's nothing I fear,
And I know that my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
There. I can get it over with in one fell swoop. ;)

Awww, I love to cry! Is that sick?
Alright, I sob hysterically everytime I hear Bambi go.."Mother....Mother?" Same thing with the Land Before Time. The Lion King does the same thing.
The Perfect Storm. Ugh. I sobbed SO HARD. Steel Magnolias. Lana Turner's version of 'An Imitation of Life'. If you haven't seen that movie, see it. It was banned from the movie theatres at the time it was released for being inappropriate..the movie was way ahead of it's time. Great movie.
Books: Where the Red Fern Grows. All you puppy lovers out there, MY GOD, will you cry. My mother had to take the book from me because I was making myself sick crying. Hee!
Songs: I have to go with Myshel.."I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt is just..wow. I saw her perform that accapella (however you spell it) at the Lillith Fair. It was amazing. Kimberly Locke did it wonderful justice on American Idol, too. There's a song called "Real Life" by Jeff Carson..kills me. (He's the same fella that sings Butterfly Kisses.) I also cried when Tim McGraw sang "She's My Kinda Rain" and I got to squeeze Jani's hand while we watched the man sing. hee! Or when we saw the BSB and they sang "I Want It That Way!"
I cried today because tomorrow will be the first time that I will not be with my family on Thanksgiving. Being all old and married now, we're 'splitting' the holidays between families so we don't have to do the family dash between houses. It just seems SO WRONG!
I get all happy when my charge Anna says "I love" to me. (It's how she says I love you.) Or when she just comes and sits in my lap and cuddles, or just gives me a kiss out of the blue..it's too cool.
Anything my husband does inspires some kind of emotion in me, heh. Granted, it's not always lovey, but I do feel alot around him! I love it when he stops what he's doing to look at me and say, "You're so beautiful." He so rocks.
Alright, I'm all done.

There's two things I know for sure.
She was sent here from heaven and she's daddy's little girl
I drop to my knees by her bed every night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes
And thank god for all of the joy in my life
Oh but most of all
For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk beside the pony daddy it's my first ride
I know the cake looks funny daddy but I should try it"
Oh with all that I've done wrong I must've done something right
To deserve a hug every morning and butterfly kisses at night
Sweet 16 today, she's looking like her momma a little more every day
One part woman the other part girl
To perfume and makeup from ribbons and curls
Trying to wings out in a great big world
But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"You know how much I love you daddy but if you don't mind
I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time"
Oh with all that I've done wrong I must've done something right
To deserve her love every morning and butterfly kisses at night
Oh precious time
Like the wind the years go by
Precious butterfly spread your wings and fly
She'll change her name today
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away
Standing in the brideroom just staring at her
She asks me what I'm thinking and I said I'm not sure
I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl
And she leaned over
And give me butterfly kisses with her momma there
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk me down the aisle daddy it's just about time
Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?
Daddy don't cry"
Oh with all that I've done wrong I must've done something right
To deserve her love every morning
And butterfly kisses
I couldn't ask god for more
And this is what love is
I know I have to let her go but I'll always remember
Every hug in the morning
And butterfly kisses

I admit, I am a total sap. I cry over some songs, (Wind Beneath My Wings makes me cry, for example) over movies, even over books (Like I cried in the first Dragonlace series (I think) when Flint died..I also cried in Enchanter's End Game when that dude Polgara liked..I forget his name...was killed.)
I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve I guess..my co-worker's cat died last week, and he was telling me about how she died at the vets..they were getting ready to put her down cause I guess her tumor burst or something..and they weren't even getting a heartbeat...she was just struggling to breathe, taking shallow breaths..so they went go get the paper for him to sign, and he picked her up and was holding her, petting her and saying goodbye, she like, went into convulsions and died in his arms...I cried when he was telling me the story.

I cry when I sing in church. It's the only time I feel a real connection to my church and to god and its a powerful feeling.
I also cry often when really singing in general as for me its an emotional thing and I put alot into it although mostly only in the safety of a choir or my car .
And for all you smart alecs who will say I cry because it sounds so bad just hush. I've always had a pretty darned good voice being in many choirs (even though I'm not very religious I love singing) and often have been the soloist so there. :P

I touch me. I touch me alllll the time!
On a serious note, I find that when people listen to me discuss things that maybe don't matter to them, but matter to me, like my dad dying... when they listen to my stupid insanity about it and don't give advice but just listen, or hug me? That's the thing that gets me.

I figured out another one, thank you Maimara... When you're really really upset but are trying to act like you're not and someone just says to you "it's alright" or they ask you if you're alright... I have no idea why but that question like breaks me and can make me cry so hard.

My husband at the time ruined that scene for me by leaning over and whispering, "They're gonna kiss!"
Edited to add -- I meant Fellowship, durr. I'm not so bright this late in the day for me.

I read that book when I was 11 or 12 or something... it was sad. I don't think I cried though.
However, when my sister and I discovered this tree that we could climb into easily, I named it Teribithia. So everytime we wanted to play in it we would say "Let's go to Teribithia" or something. I'm lameo.
Aaannyway... nowadays I almost never cry. The last time I cried was when my grandmother died. (Two years ago today, in fact). Then again at her memorial service. She was creamated so there was no casket. I'm kinda glad though... her ashes are buried 2 states away, so I dont' have to visit her grave. I was very close to her and it would make me sad.
Beyond that, I don't cry, really. Not that I'll ever admit to anyway.

I cry uncontrolably at the laying of the poppy wreaths by the Queen.
I cry becouse of all the old men and women who wear thier best uniforms with all the medals they have earned through fighting for our freedom.
I cry mostly becouse thier salute is the highest honour anyone can bestow to anyone.
Oh and I cry at the scene in Saving private Ryan where the woman is told 3 of her kids are dead and the part where the officer recites a letter of bereivement sent by Abe Lincoln.
I cried When Cashia said goodbye to me.
And I cry when I'm kicked in the crackers.
(thought I should attempt to make ya smile there)

I carry this in my wallet. It makes me appreciate how fortunate I am to be stationed in the States. Whatever you think of politics, always give due respect to your veterans of foreign wars:
'Twas the night before Christmas,
He lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of
plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney
with presents to give,
And to see just who
In this home did live.
I looked all about,
A strange sight I did see,
No tinsel, no presents,
Not even a tree.
No stocking by mantle,
Just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures
of far distant lands.
With medals and badges,
Awards of all kinds,
A sober thought
Came through my mind.
For this house was different,
It was dark and dreary,
I found the home of a soldier,
Once I could see clearly.
The soldier lay sleeping,
Silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor
In this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle,
The room in such disorder,
Not how I pictured
A United States soldier.
Was this the hero
Of whom I have read?
Curled up on a poncho,
the floor for a bed?
I realized the families,
That I saw this night,
Owed their lives to these soldiers
Who were willing to fight.
Soon round the world,
The children would play,
And grownups would celebrate
A bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom
Each month of the year,
Because of the soldiers,
Like the one lying here.
I couldn't help wonder
How many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas eve
In a land far from home.
The very thought
Brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees
And started to cry.
The soldier awakened
And I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, dont cry,
This life is my choice;
I fight for freedom
I dont ask for more,
My life is my god,
My country, my corps. "
The soldier rolled over
And drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it,
I continued to weep.
I kept watch for hours,
So silent and still
And we both shivered
From the cold night's chill.
I didn't want to leave
On that cold, dark night,
This guardian of honor
So willing to fight.
Then the soldier rolled over,
With a voice soft and pure,
Whispered "Carry on Santa,
Its Christmas Day, all is secure."
One look at my watch,
And I knew he was right.
"Merry Christmas my friend,
And to all a good night."

I carry a note my girlfriend gave me about a month after we met. Five years later when i read it,it still moves me to tears. I also like the movies that can stir that kind of emotion in me and purposely watch them as if they do they must be good.
I cry every time I see Phantom of the Opera. The end just... gets me.

Quite sad that I have learned to be so emotionless when it comes to most things, guess its just they way i have grown the past 5 years. Im just ever so complacent with my life and in extreme turmoil to be honest, I suppose i am the worst thing that gets to me. Other than that i am made of granite. *sigh* It hurts it really does

I'd have to say She's my Kinda rain live was definitely a tear jerker.
Being moved to laughter... my wedding day. One disaster after the other. It just all added to the craziness and well.. I cant post here all of it without permission.. but lets just say... you had to laugh or else you'd go nuts.
But being moved the most ever. My grandmother pretty much raised me when I was little. my mom was around.. but worked a lot. And lately my grandmother has been very sick... I have issues with some of my family being particularly mean to me... and my grandmother is in the hospital.. hooked up to all these machines..
And she says to me... It doesnt matter what they think
You were mine from the day you were born.
I cried like a baby, and tear up everytime I think about it. I'll carrry those words around my heart till the day it stops beating.

There's a Christian Farewell Song (or something like that) they play at Catholic funerals that absolutely brutalizes me.
Seeing my dad cry was the worst experience of my life. You'd have to know my dad to know where I was at.
The scene in Terminator 3 where they show that damn farmhouse and the missiles going up.
Where the Red Fern Grows.
CCR - "Long As I Can See the Light"
The song in Jesus Christ Superstar (the movie) where its Jesus' solo in Gethsemane.
The Iron Giant made me cry until they magically brought him back to life where it made me cry from being so pissed off.

Braveheart makes me cry too...so does the part where Gandalf died in LOTR..I cried over that part in the book as well.
Also..(I dont remember this, my mother tells this story whenever crying over a movie gets brought up) I apparently cried..loud and for a while..when ET was all white and stuff and going to die in the movie..before they saved him. She said the theater was totally quiet..then all of a sudden I turn to her and say (loud) Mommy..is ET going to die? I don't want ET to die, Mommy! Dont let ET die Mommy!! and cry...heh.

If it's even remotely sappy, I cry. Wind Beneath my Wings does it too Weedie..and Cats in the Cradle, and 4+20 by Stephen Stills, and a whole lot of other songs. ET - forget it. I'm useless for an hour after that movie. McDonald's commercial where the old man and woman show up at the same time and the one ends up sharing a table with the other...
The original CocaCola commercial where hippies and politicians and black and white and puerto rican and asian and priests and paupers all hold hands and sing "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing"
Hallmark cards. Just pick one. I'll cry.
Watching the old folks in the senior complex behind my house walk hand-in-hand on the sidewalk.
Snuggling with hubby.
Having my cat crawl under the quilt and sleep on my feet.
The poem "When I am Old I will wear Purple."
