I just found out earlier this morning that a very good friend of mine yesterday. He took some shrapnel from an IED to his neck, died soon after. We had a lot of great times, tons of laughs, unforgettable memories. One of those guys who never had a bad thing to say about anybody.

I enlisted in the Navy in '73 so I never saw action in Nam but a couple guys I know the classes ahead of mine bought it. "Fitzy" Fitzgerald and Petey Landry paid the price for their country. Brett was a warrior who wore the uniform so he'll be remembered too.

The part that made me the saddest was that he was 21 or 22.
Sorry to hear about him.

Ranger, are you in Iraq?
A buddy of mine got stationed in between Baghdad and Fallujah two weeks ago.
I forget the name of the city. I think it begins with a B. Are you in that area?

Yea, I've been here for 4 months. Was in mosul with the first SBCT at first then moved down to Camp Cooke for a few weeks and when the whole fallujah deal happened got attached to 1st MEF before mosul blew up again and we got called back. I been there ever since.
P.s. I don't know what city you're referring to. Fallujah isn't too far outside of baghdad (about 35 miles if memory serves) with Abu Ghraib being in that area. There is alot of little towns and neighborhoods that have names hard to pronounce so it can be difficult.
