View Full Version : Encumbrance - is it continuous or does it work in stages?
So I'm a dwarf and I'm typically carrying about 100 lb of gear (that includes 38 lb plate, weapon, herb kit, etc). I do not use armor support. My encumbrance level shows up as None or "not encumbered enough to notice".
Would I derive any mechanical benefit from having less weigh on me (such with a weightless bag), or am I just as good "as is", provided I do not hit the next encumbrance tier?

Some, encumbrance verb is not exact.
I can show not encumbered but see a little more DS (reducing some penalty) if somewhere near the line when adding wizard strength sometimes.
Learn support too, you've got the TPs!

Also the 38 lbs of plate does not when worn and yes there are penalty stages/degrees of encumbrance.
I opted for 5 ranks of reinforcement for greater survivability, particularly given how I'm never actually seeing the bar go up from zero encumbrance... hence my question. Would I even see any benefit if I were to switch to armor support? I never carry much loot on me.

Per an old post by a GM (which I cannot find at the moment), once you reach "You adjust your gear comfortably and feel satisfied that you are not encumbered enough to notice." there is no additional gain for carrying less weight - unencumbered is unencumbered.

For Lich people:
;e echo percentencumbrance
can give you a more granular percentage value of encumbrance beyond the encumbrance verb.
