Yes with new slot for padding you can bless up to about heavy (reduced swings the higher you get).

I doubt 1 pt loses very many swings. I think it was 9 or 10 pts of damage weighting that as a Voln Master I got 2 swings per.

Paladins or clerics probably can combine for (a few) more.
