Hey Everyone!

You can now claim the second half of your goodie bag which includes the scripted item with the giftbox command.

Options:
SIMUCON17 - Claims your Simucon Giftbag if unclaimed from 2017.


Upon first use, you'll get your first prize if you haven't claimed it.
Upon second use, you'll get your scripted item if you haven't claimed it.

Upon third use, you may or may not blow up, or nothing will happen.

All Retser did was handle the automation portion of the giftbags. He had nothing to do with the items in it. Unfortunately, he's the one getting the bulk of the rage in the matter when all he did was streamline the system to make life easier for the GMs and US.

No, Retser always delivers. Its slekon, skeleon, skeletor that is catching heat. Wyrom threw it at him to do and its probably that I forced their hand.
I dont want to think that much of myself, but its pretty fast turn around when I said the word "refund" at them.

Lol, we had to pull back on the unique ideas. It was leading to free thought on the GM staff, some of them ran off when they weren't getting paid fairly.

Just an FYI here.

The original GM who was going to do the scripted item couldn't do it to issues beyond their control.

I offered to do it and take over distribution of the other items. GM Retser stepped up and helped big time with that distribution.

People were upset at the delay, which wasn't my fault, but I was the target. I have received serious complaints about the tardiness of the scripted item. That's fine, but remember, I was intending to help out.

The DEV team started taking some heat about the delay, which also wasnt their fault. Pointing that out garnered me more complaints.

Yesterday, I told Wyrom that I had lost all drive to finish the item this year. I'll continue the work for use next year, assuming an item is needed then. Otherwise the script will be used elsewhere.

To those that have emailed me about not being able to claim the giftbox scripted item, you have all guessed correctly at the reasoning, and I'll try to get to you tonight or tomorrow.

I seriously have a lot of respect for the GMs. But Sleken's post was some bruised fragile ego bullshit. Keios started that item way before SimuCon. Something was wrong with it. Does it seriously take 4+ MONTHS to fix a FLUFF SCRIPT item? That was just "i'll take my ball and go home" childish of him to post some shit like that. Seriously.

Noble, but someone from DEV could have stood up for themselves if they wanted. Doing so just garnered you more criticism that probably wasn't warranted.

Yes, they could have. They didn't have to. And there is no probably about it.

Then who made the decision just to recycle last year's scripted item? All of us paid money for the goodie bag and none of us deserves just to all of a sudden get last year's scripted item because you lost the drive to finish the item.

You would have to ask Wyrom. And I paid too. That doesn't mean anything, but I thought I'd throw it in to come clean.

While I understand that the GMs are volunteers and I'm usually pretty lax when they mess up, in what business -anywhere- is it ok to promise something for four months then just phone it in and hand you a refreshed item from last year?

I'm sorry, this is ridiculous from every angle and I cannot express just how disappointed in Simu I am right now.

We obviously don't know how exactly everything that went down. But if it went down remotely like he said, I'd be fed up with that shit too. You can only put yourself out there on the line and stand up for others and put the work in on trying to get something done while people complain about you so much before you finally say enough is enough. If I had full time job and was just putting in work for Simu on the side because I loved the game but was getting shit on, I'd say fuck it too.

If you think about it, with the long delay of the scripted item, it really sounds like what happened was that Sleken was legitimately working on it, took so much heat that he finally said screw it, and then someone (I can only guess Wyrom at this point) decided just to recycle last year's scripted item just to get it out. Why else would it have taken so long only to find out they recycled last year's item?

I wasn't referring to his being tired of the players complaints. I really doubt that the vast majority of them enjoy trying to preserve the vitality of the game (a game they play and enjoyed enough to volunteer to work on) through the creation of a microtransaction market. Those two things can't jive well for long. So decisions that come down from on high in St. Louis or Wyrom are probably starting to stack up on them.

Shit Happens. I know its become increasingly frustrating and things escalated quickly. Take a break, take a breather, come back in a smaller capacity and enjoy the RP and small moments and forget all the crap that happens inbetween. You always were a stellar Roleplayer, and a LOT of people (including Rovvi and myself) really enjoyed your RP. Don't worry about the shit decisions Simu makes. Come back and enjoy the things you enjoyed from the beginning and done best (when you're ready of course): roleplaying. You were good at it! We'll miss you! And hope to be around when you come back with a different perspective.

I never really remembered anyone publicly calling out Sleken like it was his fault. People were upset that they weren't getting their stuff and I feel most of that went away when we got everything but the scripted item. I haven't heard much of anything regarding it until the recent stuff with Ordim.

Sometime after tomorrow, I'll allow you to destroy your bird charm for a big RPA orb or you can change it into another bird type (we'll probably go with raven or owl). It just has slight variations of messaging differences.

That's what happens when you use volunteers and have no real management or structure. People do what they want, when they want, and if they want.

Projects start and die without ever being finished because everyone is in their own little world doing their own shit and they can't really force people to pick up another's project because they're dealing with volunteers that could simply walk away.
