View Full Version : Snow!

This storm is a big one. Cold temps, lots of moisture & wicked winds making this storm one that will go down in history as one of the biggest. Top 10 likely, top 5 possibly! The blizzard of 2005 may be one of the most memorable since the blizzard of 1978!

Warnings and Advisories galore with the storm:

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/box/

for the latest updates.

Here's the timeline:
Snow moved in 2-4pm
Accumulations of several inches by 9pm
Blizzard conditions with 10" possible by 11pm to 3am
Moderate snowfall 5-9am
Tapering inland around noon
Wrap-around snow on the coast / Cape into evening
Ending on the Cape Sunday night

Accumulations are likely to be heaviest South of Boston through the South Shore & South Coast & parts of the Cape. There's some chance of mixing for the Islands & the Outer Cape. That might cut down slightly on totals but there is the risk of 20-30"+ in the hardest hit spots.

I'll try to update as the storm develops.
Thanks for checking in and stay safe!

I'm on the South Shore, Plymouth county..whee!! Enough snow to drift up to six feet they are saying now..Fun!!

I'm all warm here, heat on, with plenty of supplies. I'm just not looking forward to the cleanup.

Anyone around my area feeling the same?

We have like 11 inches in Philly right now.. might be getting around 3-5 more in wraparound snow, so they say.

The only time a storm is good is when it's nowhere near me. Right now is not one of those cases. We've already had 16 inches dumped on us since early this morning and expecting another before noon tomorrow. All this crap on top of the 18 inches we've already got....I hate winter...I hate NY.....I hate snow....you get the point.

Frick, here in Nova Scotia we're being set up for another storm tomorrow. That's 3 in 7 days. I think more snow on Monday. Gah.

Brrr! I'm shivering just thinking about it! Snuggle up in front of the fireplace and sit it out in warmth and safety.

As long as the roads are clear by monday morning, this storm is nothing more than a pain in the ass.

10:00 PM now, and we've got over 6 inches. The storm hasn't gotten to its peak yet, that's not for another couple of hours. We're expecting around two feet of snow here in northern New Haven County.

Around the coast of the state, they're expecting floods caused by a 13-foot swell over the breakers. Fortunately, my best friend who lives ON the beach (her front door IS the beach - not just near it), also has a house downtown. So as long as she can get to it, she and her son and puppy will be fine.

If not, I might just be 4-wheeling it to her house to get her to her other house.

This is SUV season, no doubt. I LOVE my Ford Explorer!

Hehe, I'd love to see what the people here in NC would do with a storm like that. Man I miss New England

You just live in the wrong area of VA.

We've been getting alternating ice and snow since about 6AM.

I get to drive about 3 1/2 hours from my town all the way into Huntington WV in this shit tomorrow. Fun.

Maybe it'll get really ugly and they'll cancel work, Arkans!

The state is closed in a state of emergency as of right now..so hopefully I won't have to work tomorrow.

It's really bad out there right now..The wind is whipping, and the snow is blowing everywhere!

Mang.

It snowed and is still snowing here, near Westchester. I'd say most definately more than a foot.

I thought that's what would happen for me today, but NOPE! Our stores still opened and here I sit, bored to tears, because of course no one's coming in. Hard to shop if you can't get your car out. By the way, I  my boyfriend's Blazer.

Poor Snapp! Who the heck is going to go shopping with multiple feet of snow on the ground? Most people are going to stay home, I'd hope. Just be careful going home, hon.

I actually went shopping yesterday. Much less people. I got a whole bunch of shit done that I probably wouldn't have if it hadn't snowed..... No lines, no moron drivers, and a lot less people to piss me off..... I love snow.

How much did you end up with where you are, Scott?

About 12 inches. Enough to keep most people off the road.

It'd keep me home, for sure! Glad you got out, got your shopping done, and got home without any problem. :)

I'm sure it must be beautiful to see, as long as you're inside and warm while looking at it. ;)

There are few things as fun as tromping around in knee-deep (mostly) dry snow.

If you have 4 wheel drive, they aren't.
