No they haven't. Nobody has a motive yet. It's probably something stupid like divorce or losing a bunch of money on slots.
When asked by a reporter if it was an act of terrorism, Sheriff Lombardo said: “No, not at this point. We believe it was a local individual. He resides here locally.

No motive on the part of the killer has been discovered so far, but local police have said they didn't have prior contact with the 64-year-old Vegas resident and no sources close to the investigation have suggested ideological, religious, or terroristic motivation. Public records indicate that Paddock had a hunting license, was a pilot, and had a lawsuit against a casino years ago.

I've seen a lot of things talking about how they aren't illegal in the state of Nevada, but... I mean, the hardest part about legally getting one is usually the Federal Government. They guy appears to not have been poor though, hell, they may have been legally acquired. If you have enough money and a clean record, you can get them.

Most nutjobs aren't willing to pay 20,000 dollars for an m16 and wait a year for a class III permit when you can get almost the same effect with a semi automatic.

fully automatic weapons are illegal in every state, unless owned before like 1969, and those videos are not semi automatic firings they are fully automatic, there are dozens of ranges around Vegas that have heavy military weapons you can use on range though, remember the little girl that shot the owner at one when she lost control a few years back.

Nope. There is no law in Nevada that makes Fully Automatic weapons illegal. The Federal Government is generally the barrier to entry in most states. If you have the Federal license, you can own a Fully Automatic weapon in Nevada, and in most states.
I DOUBT his are legal, but it is possible.

There are modifications you can make to a semi-auto that produce an effect similar to automatic firing, but not being legally defined as a true automatic.

Shooter Stephen Paddock had purchased multiple firearms in the past — he bought several in California, a law enforcement official told CNN. But those don't appear to be among the 10 or more found in the Mandalay Bay hotel room.
So far, investigators believe the firearms were purchased legally.
The suspicion, based on initial reports, is that any of the rifles used were altered in order to function as an automatic weapon, the official said. Among the weapons found so far are a .223 caliber and a .308 caliber.

Seems like terrorism to me. and to the law.
By Las Vegas law, however, the mass shooting certainly falls under the definition of terrorism. As The Independent reports, the state's statute reads: "[An] act of terrorism means any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to cause great bodily harm or death to the general population."

Yup, when I heard the reports of him having a machine gun I immediately thought, "Well, someone finally used one of the bumpfire stocks to light people up.". Seemed inevitable, unfortunately. We might actually have some gun control laws get passed: equating bumpfire with automatic. After watching that video, I can't see why it wouldn't qualify, from an end result point of view. Beyond that, I don't think there's a level of carnage in this country that would trigger more gun control. Not for another generation at least.

I think his point was that silencers/suppressors aren't anything like what the media portrays them as.
Um.. they wouldn't be called "SILENCERS" if they were loud.

A suppressor likely would have made his weapons less deadly, especially at the range he was firing from.
Do they reduce bullet velocity that much?

No, they do not.

From 1200 yards? You better believe it.

He was 3-400 yards away though.. But yes the further the target the more noticeable it is. In this case a suppressor would have likely just muffled the noise more and let him get more shots off before it was noticed on a massive scale.

Stage was 4-500 yards and the crowd was beyond it from his angle. I thought I saw 1200 yards somewhere, but I guess not. Either way, I had heard the way to police found the room so fast was because a smoke alarm went off, so even if he had a mythical hollywood silencer, they still would have found him.

It's amazing to me that people are pushing the narrative that had this guy had a silencer no one would have known what was going on.
Even if silencers somehow made guns, you know, silent, the idea that people are dropping left and right and people would just stand there dumbfounded like "Gee, what's going on? What do we do?"
Guns are louder than jet engines at take off (the standard "really fucking loud" sound listed for reference when discussing decibel levels.) Do these people really think a relatively small piece of metal is going to completely muffle this much sound?

To actually be silent, you'd need to be firing at a subsonic velocity. The sound of a bullet breaking the sound barrier is just as loud as the weapon firing. That along cuts down on distance heavily.
A suppressor in practical use, however, just makes it a bit more quieter for the shooter. The Marine Corps is actually equiping an entire infantry battalion with them. Cuts down on the need to use ear plugs and improves communication.

Seconds matter in this type of situation I would assume, so 30 seconds or a minute is a big deal.

The hysteria over silencers worked because Paul Ryan pulled it from consideration.

Vegas officials stated that these are indeed real photos of the crime scene and assailant.

Seeing as the shooter had no criminal record he could have easily gotten a silencer if he wanted one. This statement is just idiotic.
She needs to go away.
