Besides using the actual items, of course... I've read something about it helping with maneuver defense?

I've never heard of it helping with maneuver defense, but it helps with spellburst. I think. Possibly? Maybe? Sure why not?

Nope.

So basically, it helps with maneuvers only through the spells on that list the aid maneuver defense. MIU skill itself also helps with spell burst, the ability to use said items that may have the above spells (or others), and the duration of the successfully activated spell.

There are other benefits not applicable to warriors like runestaff DS, and I think being better at enchanting and ensorcelling.

Good to know. While you're here, is there any benefit to taking armor training beyond 280 ranks (aside from minor bonus to redux)? Thanks.

Not much.

290 ranks if you want rank 5 of a damage specialization and rank 3 of reinforcement (not if you go for support). Also 290 ranks for minimum spell hindrance of minor spiritual spells in full plate.

A few more hits to your damage specialization fittings before they expire if you go past that as well, as well as getting more and enhancives for minimum spell hindrance of minor elemental spells.

Basically, no - not before postcap.

More points to spend on armor skills (support, slash/puncture/crush protection), improved spell hindrance (290 for min MnS and better on MnE)

Not sure if there's any partial benefit to action penalty (not sure anyone does?)

EDIT: Yep, what Roblar said
