Henphelia was like no other chicken. She was long of leg, round of bottom, and had the most unruly of hair. Yes, hair. Now I know that it sounds strange that a hen would have hair, but she had long locks that flowed down her back. She never really knew what to do with them.
Until she went to market one day and bought a feather. Upon wearing the feather, her hair was transformed and she preened in front of the other hens in the hen house.
>You gingerly clip the feather into your hair and it quickly gets hidden in your tresses.
>You nimbly weave your waist length hair into a multitude of thin herringbone braids that hug your skull.
>She has waist length, straight golden blonde hair separated into a multitude of thin herringbone braids that hug the skull and are woven with thin beads and dusky grey pigeon feathers.
I wonder what Henphelia will do in market tomorrow...

Henphelia, the odd hen, was pretty happy with how her hair had turned out, but when she went to the Market a second time…
“Hey, Henphia,” a funny looking girl called out to her. “I can make that even better…”
Henphelia was most pleased with the results.
Drawing your bangs back from your face, you carefully weave them into a five-plait braid and then pinch the ends together with a bit of twine and twin dusky grey pigeon retrices.
She has waist length, straight golden blonde hair with her bangs gathered to the right temple and woven into a single five-plait braid adorned with twin dusky grey pigeon retrices.
I wonder what Henphelia will do tomorrow.

Howdy folks!
Since I’ve been gone for a while, I will have a lot to tease about! Here’s something for those of you that like footwraps and handwraps.
glance
You glance down to see a tight ball of soft grey linen in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
inspect my linen
You carefully inspect your soft grey linen.
After a careful inspection, you determine that a tight ball of soft grey linen are suitable for use in unarmed combat.
You determine that you could wear the linen on your feet. The linen appears to serve some purpose.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of cloth.
Well, how does that work?
Like this:
wear my linen
Holding the end of the soft grey linen against your ankle bone, you begin to gently wrap it around first the ankle, then across the top and around the arch of your foot. You point your toes, testing the tightness of your wrapping job and, satisfied, repeat the process with the left foot so that both feet are adorned in newly made grey linen footwraps.
~~ Thandiwe ~~
Moved to the correct thread. My bad.

That crazy hen is at it again! When she got to the market, another merchant saw her and taught her a new trick with her feather.
Now, she's so excited and shows off for all the other hens.
>Using three fingers, you gently rake your hair away from your face and bind it in place with thin dusky grey combs that are decorated with pigeon pennae.
>She has waist length, straight golden blonde hair drawn away from the face with thin dusky grey combs that are decorated with pigeon pennae.
~*~ Thandiwe ~*~
----
And now for the hand:
>inspect my suede
You carefully inspect your vivid red suede.
After a careful inspection you determine that a tight ball of vivid red suede is suitable for use in unarmed combat.
You determine that you could wear the suede on your hands. The suede appears to serve some purpose.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of leather.
>wear my suede
Cupping the end of the vivid red suede in your right hand, you gently wrap it around your palm and carefully weave it between your fingers. Once done, you flex your fingers to test the fit, and then repeat the process on the left so that both hands are adorned in newly made zorchar-beaded handwraps.
Big thank you to GM Vanah who was able to fix that oddity with inspect.(Cause she's the best!)

You guys are cracking me up.
The feather script is called Hair Feather, or more affectionately the Plumed Hair Do-Hickey.
The hand/foot script (which is not restricted to UAC, by the by) is The Old One-Two.
And just because you are guys are cracking me up with the names...
Here's another teaser for them:
You are wearing a blossom-carved white birch amulet, a stiffened dark green jerkin, "a pair of vivid zorchar-beaded handwraps with exposed fingertips", a pair of side-laced trousers, and "a pair of soft grey linen footwraps with exposed heels and toes".

I'm not gonna lie... I'm no Thandiwe. (Though she is my good pal and a joy with whom to work!) So instead of writing a beautiful story like she did, I'll just lay out a couple OOC shop teasers:
1) Long ago, someone asked for a nice selection of holy symbols. You might find a few of those with tiny pockets for storing your ritual stuff in one shop. And they might be the cutest ever (d'awww). And you might find Arkati candles there, too, to help with your communing and other mood setting needs. And in that same shop, you might find sticks for painting deity symbols on faces for that extra mmph. This is pure conjecture, of course. ;)
2) You might find an interesting ware for sale in another shop that can be unlocked for free purely because I saw you engaging in the storyline and roleplaying. Yes, roleplaying! No, nothing mechanical here. Just fluff for fun. Yes, I'm watching for solid roleplay as EG goes live.
Much more to come. See you there.

Henphelia is at it, again. Wandering from her Chicken Coup, she's managed to make her way to market for the fourth time and she is strutting her stuff.
A man in an alley says, "Hey, Henphelia, I may appear to be a BLIND MAN but I can tell you right now, I can fix your hair feather to be even fancier."
Clucking away, she went into the alley. When she came out...
>Starting at your temple and working your way backwards along your scalp, you deftly weave your hair into dozens of incredibly thin braids. Here and there along the various lengths, you add dusky grey beads and pigeon plumules.
>She has waist length, straight golden blonde hair woven into a riotous mass of incredibly thin braids that are sporadically peppered with dusky grey beads and pigeon plumules.

Henphelia liked to press her luck and so she went to market a fifth time. She'd bought the hair feather the first time, and then had it worked on three more times. Could there be a fourth time for her?
Strutting along, her hair loose to see if any noticed, a playful young boy approached her.
"Oh, Henphelia," he said, "You should push that hair away from your face."
He gently pushed her hair back.
>Resting your thin dusky grey headband in the space between your temple and the tops of your ears, you push the piece further up on your head and trap your hair in place.
>She has waist length, straight golden blonde hair pulled back from the face by a thin dusky grey headband adorned with decorative pigeon pennae.

After years of her extensive research in sylvan gemstone lore, Nimaya has created a new apparatus for modifying the appearance of the jewels, gems, stones, and shells that are so dearly revered by her people. The lapidary boxes provide the user with more than one shape, texture, cut, or lustre that can be applied to gems. The revolving center of the box is turned to choose which finish will be applied to the stone inside. These boxes can be further customized in a variety of different ways.
Nimaya taps an iridescent pearl, which is in her left hand.
Nimaya taps a greyed pumpkin ash box shot with veins of smoky moss agate, which is in her right hand.
Nimaya flips open a sleek latch on her pumpkin ash box with a practiced hand, revealing a narrow chamber that descends through the heart of the vessel to a tapered outlet.
Nimaya pops an iridescent pearl into her pumpkin ash box, and it swiftly clatters down a small chute, coming to rest with a soft plink!
Nimaya carefully eyes her pumpkin ash box and turns its revolving center.
Nimaya presses down firmly on a sleek latch crowning her pumpkin ash box, driving it down through the center of her vessel. An eruption of metallic slicing emanates from inside her box's chamber, yielding to a few discordantly staggered crackles, and a tinny clink. After a moment, a greyed pumpkin ash box shot with veins of smoky moss agate continues rolling through a narrow chute, tumbling out of a tapered outlet directly into her palm.

They're totally unrelated to existing gemcutters, as they're meant to be sylvan-y in nature and to compliment the sylvan gemology guide document that this same character put out in 5115 (winky face, 2015).
Yes, you should be able to customize them fairly easily at regular GALD merchants.

Now that I have your attention...
There will be at least one scrying shop at Ebon Gate this year and I've created a brand new scrying device for it.
It is based on the Apdo Gno Burzka'ask, which is a krolvin seer that uses Haruspex as a divination method.
Here is a sample of it:
The black rolton collapses to the ground, emits a final bleat, and dies.
You glance down to see a femur-hilted obsidian zirah bouk in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
Laying your hands upon the soft expanse of the rolton's stomach, you make a deep cut in the flesh with your zirah bouk. Innards begin to spill upon the ground, and you fish around in them for a moment before you prize free a waxy fat-saturated stomach.
You glance down to see a femur-hilted obsidian zirah bouk in your right hand and a waxy fat-saturated stomach in your left hand.
You analyze your fat-saturated stomach and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
A waxy fat-saturated stomach is created by using the blade of an Apdo Gno Burzka'ask on a dead creature. It can be turned up to three times to discern various features about the type of organ it is, and those can be used to predict the future. Once it has been turned three times, it will be destroyed.
A waxy fat-saturated stomach can not be altered, sold, or eaten. It must be used while fresh from the kill as it will rot.
You analyze your obsidian zirah bouk and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
This is the blade of an Apdo Gno Burzka'ask, which is a Krolvin seer. It will gut an animal, and only an animal, to steal its organs. You can do this by typing POINT zirah bouk at {animal}. It is your task to divine the future from those organs.
This particular zirah bouk is at the off-the-shelf tiering and can be unlocked once, and it traps for point, rub, and exhale.
It has a chance to create one of four different types of organs.
You may alter this zirah bouk freely, but please try to keep its material as either glass, obsidian, or metal. It should only ever be a small knife or dagger, and it can never have any kind of special flares, weighting, or enhancive abilities.
Enjoy!

[Feywrot Mire, Western Walkway]
The air is hazy with twining plumes of smoke, as breezes from the western swamplands breathe life into pockets of smoldering ash, reigniting what little is left to burn in the area. Black water covers half of the planking where the charred supports have partly collapsed into the surrounding swamp. You also see a pile of burnt wood.
>look wood:
Judging from the one wheel lying on its side nearby, and the charred remnants of one long carved wooden handle, the scattered pile of wood and ash appears to be the burnt vestige of a merchant's cart. Tiny animal figurines, perched in long abandoned pots, are beyond recognition with their little faces scorched off.
The poor little gnome is heartbroken, so many fine carvings reduced to ash. Whatever shall he do? Guess there's nothing left but to start anew. Stop by Binklar's new shop on ... wherever the heck this new festival place is...
Blank imbeddibles for all of your imbeddible spell needs. With a merchant pass, he'll imbed up to 3 items per person per day with the spiritual or arcane magics from his shop lists. Please help the little man recoup his losses, or just stop by and say "Hi!"

I'm glad you asked about tiers...
Every blade that is off the shelf can be unlocked one time. There is a special, raffle quality tier on the blade that does more. It can only be found in jackpot prizes and is usually on a completely altered blade.
That being said, here's a breakdown for you:
Of-the-shelf : 4 organ types & 3 verbs
Tier 1 : 6 organ types & 5 verbs
Raffle Tier: 8 organ types & 7 verbs
Here's an example of using the organ:
>turn my stomach
ou turn the stomach over in your hands, examining it in minute detail. As your eyes rove over it, you notice that the greater curve of stomach is pockmarked with puckered flesh.
G>turn my stomach
You turn the stomach over in your hands, examining it in minute detail. As your eyes rove over it, you notice pockets of fatty membranes fused to the exterior wall.
>turn my stomach
You turn the stomach over in your hands, examining it in minute detail. As your eyes rove over it, you notice a snakeskin-like pattern that trails across the wall that is interrupted by nodules of yellowish fat.
Sensing that you have gleaned all you can from the stomach, you feel it begin to transform under your touch. The flesh loses its elasticity and suddenly turns brittle. Within seconds it is nothing more than sanguine ash that sifts through your fingers.

The waters below seemed so far away. "Go ahead, missy. I'll make sure yer head's protected with this gnomish air helmet. Y'ain't gonna die. Hehehehe." Trembling, she nudged slightly closer to the cliff's edge. She clutched her diver's license tightly in her hand and shakily turned it over to the divemaster. "Hooray!" the divemaster exclaimed. "Ready? One, two..." Before she could blink, the instructor slipped a helmet over her head and gave her a good shove. "REMEMBER TO KICK!!" With a gasp, she tumbled over the edge of the peak and plummeted to the dark waters below. She hit the sea hard, arms and legs flailing wildly to scramble her way up from the depths. Once the waters around her calmed, she reluctantly opened her eyes and gasped! "Ohhh...look at this! I can see! I can breathe! I CAN SWIM!!"
Patches of green-blue algae float past; chunks of shimmering silver flicker in her periphery; large sandbars stretch as far as she can see. "This is extraordinary! Let's see what I can find!" She points her body downward and descends to a sandbar nearby, digging her hands excitedly through the murky sand when her fingers graze the edge of something solid. "Oooooh! What is THIS that I've found?" She gives the item a strong tug and pulls up a tusk-hilted copper zirah bouk. "Hmm. What IS this??" With a shrug, she stuffs the item into her pack and swims off toward the west, a large jellyfish following in her wake.

This was shared on the Officials but not by a GM:
In the brass coffer:
Special [1]: a silver-veined strand of slick seaweed
Something in the coiled knots of the aquatic plant make you think that this could be debris that has somehow made its way out of Caligos Isle and into your care. You remove a silver-veined strand of slick seaweed from in a battered brass coffer.
Thin and ropey, the stand of seaweed is slippery and bears a strange indigo cast that darkens to forest green at the center. Spear-shaped leaves decorate the edges as do tiny seedpods that glisten with a watery slickness. An odd pattern of silver veining trickles through the plant. It appears as though you could OPEN the aquatic vegetation.
>open seaweed
You gingerly at first, and then with more ferocity as you continue, pull on the tangled coils of the seaweed. Suddenly transforming into an ethereal mist of indigo laced with silver, the seaweed falls away from your hands and leaves something behind.
You swap your glossy indigo seedpod from your left to your right hand.
Plump and round, the seedpod is indigo in hue and darkens to ebon at the center. The flimsy seam is limned with a silvery sheen.
You analyze your glossy indigo seedpod and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
You look over a silver-seamed glossy indigo seedpod and understand instantly that it can not be altered in any way, shape, or form. With that understanding comes the knowledge that you can TAP, SMELL, and EAT it.
As you give a silver-seamed glossy indigo seedpod a last look, you feel as though someone is analyzing you back. A voice floats around your ears, "Caligos Isle is where He awaits you. Come. Come to His Salvation." Slowly, both the feeling and the voice fade away.
You get no sense of whether or not the seedpod may be further lightened.
>tap seed
As you tap the edges of the seedpod, it bursts in your hand, and a wild spray of silver mist floods the area. Slowly, the image of an island wreathed in mist forms, and you see a ship sailing towards its shores. Waves crest and crash against the rocky shores, though darkness and gloom prevent a closer look at the land. Eventually, the image fades but leaves behind the acrid scent of the sea.

Inside the gloomy interior of a small, shredded grey tent, you'll find a wide and colorful assortment of these extra zesty artifacts coming to Caligos Isle (and back to Ebon Gate in general).
~~~
You pick up an umber blown glass witch-ball.
You gently press your hemlock green votive against the surface of your witch-ball, and with a soft whoosh of air, the candle is pulled from your hand and into the center of the globe where it cradles gently in the small niche.
You hold your burning match near the witch-ball for a moment, and the flame flares brightly then vanishes only to reappear within the globe, lighting the tiny hemlock green votive and casting long fingers of umber light in every direction. You drop the burned-out match.
You nudge your umber witch-ball into motion, and it begins to swing back and forth like a colorful pendulum.
You gaze deeply into your umber witch-ball, focusing on the dancing flame. Smoke pools darkly within, forming the image of Lorminstra standing before the Ebon Gate.
Suddenly, the votive flares brightly and dispels the image. The witch-ball's motion comes to an abrupt stop.
~~~
I swear I didn't force that image to happen just for this teaser. Ain't text-based RPGs grand?

There will be cobbling punches this year, including a new one that works on chopines.

So… we could make adamantine/kroderine/zelnorn plates if we had a dagger of each?
No. As per ALTER 9:
Some rare materials might be restricted or simply not lend themselves to serving as an adornment for non-combat items. Black ora and white ora, for example, are reserved for weapons. Adamantine, coraesine, drakar, gornar, krodera, kroderine, rhimar, urglaes, urnon, zelnorn, and zorchar cannot be used due to their unique and innate qualities. These special materials can be used as adornments for combat items that share the material’s innate qualities.
There were alter fodder drops from recent simucoin events like balenite, alexandrite, laje, veniom and others, will those work in the box?
Not at this time. Only light weapons of non-magical metals, or the ingots sold in the shop.

Quote from GM Sindin regarding his dagger-based services: http://forums.play.net/forums/GemStone IV/Paid Events: Adventures, Quests, and SimuCoins/Ebon Gate Festival/view/12875
Bubble flares for daggers only?
Yessssss. Very specific! Lots of uses for a dagger with these flares.
…any chance of adding a “make a dagger into a Poison Ambusher” raffle into that great big long laundry list of awesome dagger-ness?
Not this year. I’ve played quite a bit with ambush poisoning daggers, and they did not make my cut to try to offer at this EG. They are, in my experience, a novelty, practically speaking. I’ve never found them combat-useful. Major bubble flares, on the other hand, can keep a dagger-swinging rogue seriously protected from damage.
Please make sure any greaves analyze as leather or cloth so Ranger resistance can be added to them.
There are, indeed, separate steel and leather sets for sale off the shelf, and I’ll be able to pocket + script 20 sets.
Suddenly I care about daggers.
Mission accomplished!
I hope whoever does this asks the dying question when they get selected for the weighting. How much to go from 0 to 5000 service points on a dagger. Then post that quote. Would love to see how much that costs.
That will be up to them to share, but it will be a transparent process with the winner.
Daggers aren’t for everyone, but if they’re for you, hopefully this will make you happy!
I plan, as always, to do a lot of GALD, but I will also devote some more slower paced sessions for daggers only (mostly when I need a mental change of pace).

Quotes from various GMs regarding their Ebon Gate offerings:
You ask, “Should we give them an idea of what fun things we are bringing to Ebon Gate this year?”
You give your leviathan a little tap on the head, causing its little noggin to bob up and down in a comical fashion.
You wind up your teal imflass leviathan several times and let it go. The teal imflass leviathan winds up and begins chiseling away at the gem. Working furiously, steam shoots out of its head, creating a thick cloud. After a moment, the cloud clears and the teal imflass leviathan brushes away the dust to reveal a perfectly cut jewel.
You remove a clam-cut baroque pearl from in your teal imflass leviathan.

Pulling his eyes from the pier behind him, the Captain looked to the open waters and watched as the mists slipped past. Moonlight, stars, and the occasional cry from the crow’s nest were soon his companions on the three-masted vessel. He couldn’t help looking back, his eyes always finding the receding island. It was always just there, just at the edge of his vision. Soon, he knew, it would fade from even his keen eyesight. But it would be there when he returned, it would be waiting.
Drumming his fingers upon the brass railing that encircled this section of the deck, he listened as one of the nightshifts began to whistle one of his favorite sea shanties. A smile rippled through his manicured, red beard, and parting his lips, he answered the tune.
Over cloud, Borthuum sailed west,
West, Lad-ees, westward, ho!
Leave the winter, in heat we are best.
Westward, lad-ees, west we go!
Borthuum, you jackjaw, you sparrow, you lark.
Ease up, Lad-ees, ease up land lo!
Pull on the trowels, the land has a spark.
Ease up, Lad-ees, landward we go!
Tend the yardarms, keep the ropes in tow.
Mind the lines, Lad-ees, heave ho!
Ash in the air, there’s a volcano below.
Heave, lad-ees, heave downward ho!
Borthum, you jackjaw, it’s storms near and far!
Lash away, Lad-ees, lash and stow!
Refit her with purpose, that ole Glaesen star!
Sail away Lad-ees, now seaward go!
With a broad grin and a final thump on the railing, the Captain retired to the forecastle of his beloved ship. In his mind, the historians were already writing his own shanty and he enjoyed the enticing thoughts of finally obtaining that fame.

Hey, locksmith! Have you had to turn away customers because your shiny, new picks aren’t so shiny or new anymore? Do you long to hang out in the East Tower, earning tips (and occasionally blowing up your friends)? Have you considered changing your profession because you can’t find anyone to fix those really cool lockpicks you just can’t buy new anymore?
WELL, FEAR NOT!
Lucky locksmiths will be able to have their picks repaired during the festival!
Notes: This service will be offered to a limited number of people (you don’t actually have to be a locksmith, but I’m not sure why you collect broken lockpicks if you’re not) for a flat silvers fee. Time/date/distribution method will be announced later.

A few lucky people will be able to have their gear sanctified at the festival! Remember, only clerics and paladins can benefit from sancted gear, so if you’re not one of these professions, you may do yourself more harm than good by having this on your gear (since sancting can make other enhancements more difficult/costly).
Black ora is, obviously, excluded.

<Sorry if this is common knowledge but are the jars in Baubles of the sea 20-count for 100 shells, 50-count for 250, and 100-count for 1000?>
There are 4 descriptions of 20 count jars in the chest. These are no different than the standard jar sold in all town alchemy shop, just with a fancier sea glass description. These sell for 1000 silvers. Little higher than the alchemy shop, but heck, I had to work with all that molten sea glass!
There are also 4 descriptions for the 50 count jars. More rare, to be sure, and these sell for 100 seashells.
In addition, two special bottles can also be purchased which hold 100 of your little pretties and these sell for 250 seashells.

Eisenruck (EYE-zen-rook): This is a gnomish term generally applied to a rigid-sided backpack-type container, most often formed with sheet metal sides, lid, and bottom.
History/Background
The nature of Burghal gnomish pursuits has, over time, led to the creation of a rigid-sided back-worn container similar in size and general application to the traditional backpack. The incorporation of rigid -- often sheet metal -- walls produces a container which can be advantageous given the race's focus on mechanical construction, embellishment, and maintenance tasks, which involves oddly shaped, sharp-edged, and sharp-cornered tools, supplies, and materials.
Usage
Eisenrucks provide the additional structure necessary when hauling an assortment of differently shaped mechanical components, and many also incorporate one or two fold-down “wings.” Each wing can be deployed as a serviceable work surface atop the seated mechcrafter's thigh, thus enabling them to work anywhere they can find a seat. Additionally, the rigid sides of the eisenruck are sometimes inlaid with contoured niches for retaining the diverse hand tools commonly employed by those who choose to wear the slab-sided containers.
Construction
Eisenrucks are defined by their rigid sides, but aside from rigidity, the choice of the material used for an eisenruck can be as unique as the individual who designs it. Virtually any inflexible metal, hard wood, or even boiled leather can be found as a prominent material in an eisenruck's construction, although glaes is an uncommon component due to its weight.
General Restrictions
While the fabrication and use of eisenrucks tends to be favored by Burghal gnomes and some enclaves of more mechanically inclined dwarves, there is nothing innately restrictive in the nature of their design or construction beyond the prominent reliance upon a rigid material for the container's exterior surfaces.
As part of Ebon Gate's offerings, look for a debut selection of scripted eisenrucks in the shop of Chisel, Peen and Chamfer, Esqs. later today.

The establishment of Chisel, Peen and Chamfer, Esqs. is pleased to open its doors.
Look for it on the High Plateau, where you see, "Descending from high above and disappearing deep into the cobblestone path, a large ragged fissure..."
There is now, also, "a coral-encrusted building."
The shop features several gnomish items, but its primary offerings are a gnomish toolbelt and a gem-eating eisenruck.
>analyze my toolbelt
You analyze your brown leather toolbelt and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
Looking over the toolbelt and inspecting its finer details, you realize that it will always need to be "a/n (whatever)/(whatever)/toolbelt". The item's article and adjective CAN be changed, but "toolbelt" is the only valid noun.
This is a Gnomish Repair Toolbelt, which means it is scripted to interact both with run-of-the-mill, generic items and with items which have "damaged" text strings stored in them. This toolbelt provides standard messaging when working on generic items, and specific messaging when working on items which are part of the Gnomish Repair System. Items can be set up with "damaged" text strings so that they can interact with the Gnomish Repair System without being scripted. IF SCRIPTED, such items will state in their analysis text that they are part of the system.
If you were to play with the toolbelt, then you'd find that you can analyze, wear, remove, clean, pinch, poke, pull, and twist it.
Clean, pinch, poke, and pull provide standard interactions for generic items. G.R.S items need to be "damaged" in order for the toolbelt to interact with them. TWIST will set a G.R.S. item's long description to one of its four damaged descriptions. When a G.R.S. item is damaged, the same verbs will provide specific messaging as the item is "repaired."
NOTE: This toolbelt currently supports interaction with a limited variety of generic items. These include: shields, goggles, crossbows (mechanical and otherwise), longbows, composite bows, short bows, runestaffs, swords, and axes.
SCRIPT NAME: Gnomish Repair Toolbelt
You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the brown leather toolbelt for you or deepen its pockets.
>glance
You glance down to see a brass framed eisenruck with maroon cuirbouilli panels in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
G>look eisenruck
You're holding a brass framed eisenruck with maroon cuirbouilli panels, which appears to be a rigid-sided, back-worn container similar to a backpack. Despite its sturdy, utilitarian design, gaps between its panels provide a glimpse of clockwork enhancements, and small louvered vents are set into several of the eisenruck's flat surfaces.
The eisenruck's left strap bears a bronze plate with:
Two diamond sockets, which are both open.
One ruby socket, which is open.
One sapphire socket, which is open.
>wear eisen
You swing the eisenruck around behind you and lift it to settle its leather-padded rests on your shoulders, then pull the straps down and hook them to the eisenruck's two sidebars.
>push eisen
The eisenruck feels a bit uncomfortable, and you realize that you'll need to wear it 23 hours and 59 minutes longer before it will become fully functional.
>push eisen
You push your uncut diamond into the empty socket on your eisenruck, and it clicks into place.
An inner glow fills the diamond briefly, before a spiderweb of fractures flash across its surface with a sharp CRACK, and it turns to dust. Immediately, gears whirr within the eisenruck, and oddly enough, your eisenruck feels a bit lighter.
>glance
You glance down to see an uncut ruby in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.
>push eisen
As you are about to push the ruby into the eisenruck's socket, you realize you're not really all that chilled. If you wish to trigger the plumes of steam anyway, just push the eisenruck again within 15 seconds.
>push eisen
You push your uncut ruby into the empty socket on your eisenruck, and it clicks into place.
An inner glow fills the ruby briefly, before a spiderweb of fractures flash across its surface with a sharp CRACK, and it turns to dust. Immediately, gears whirr within the eisenruck, and dense plumes of steam gush from the eisenruck's bottom, sides, and lid to envelop you completely! Within seconds you feel like a poached egg, as the cloud begins to evaporate.
Taking a breath of steam-free air, you realize that you weren't really chilled in the first place. Oh well...
>look eisen
Since the eisenruck is on your back, you can't really get a good look at it. However, its leather-padded shoulder rests and straps are easy to examine.
The eisenruck's left strap bears a bronze plate with:
Two diamond sockets, one of which is open.
One ruby socket, which is closed.
One sapphire socket, which is open.
You analyze your brass framed eisenruck and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
Looking over the eisenruck and inspecting its finer details, you realize that it will always need to be "a/n (whatever)/(whatever)/eisenruck". So, the item's article and adjective CAN be changed, but "eisenruck" cannot.
To insert a gem into the eisenruck, you must be wearing the eisenruck and holding a gem in one hand, then PUSH eisenruck.
Note 1: The eisenruck must be worn continuously for a minimum of one day before any of its gem-eating abilities will function.
Note 2: When you LOOK at your eisenruck, if a socket is described as "open," then it is ready to have a gem inserted into it. If a socket is described as "closed," then it is in cooldown.
Note 3: Although it is not required by the script, this eisenruck is designed to interact with the Gnomish Repair System, which enables the wearer of a scripted Gnomish Repair Belt to alter this eisenruck's appearance to any of several "damaged" descriptions which are pre-stored in the eisenruck's extra text fields. Please keep that in mind if you request an alteration for this item. The "damaged" description texts may also need to be changed by the merchant in order to reflect the changes of your alteration.
If you were to play with the brass framed eisenruck, then you'd find that you can analyze, wear, remove, pinch, poke, and push it. PUSH won't do anything if the eisenruck has no gem sockets "unlocked" or added.
This is a fully unlocked, Tier 4 eisenruck. This eisenruck is sold OTS with no tier unlocked.
SCRIPT NAME: Gem-eater Eisenruck
You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the mithril paneled eisenruck for you or deepen its pockets.
OTS eisenrucks have no gem sockets installed. Each tier of unlocking adds a socket. The customer specifies whether the socket being added/unlocked will be Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, or Pearl. Each unlocked/added socket remains gem-specific. An uncut diamond provides a 5 pound encum reduction of the eisenruck for 1 hour. An uncut ruby provides removal of a frostbite effect. Any sapphire (750 value or greater) casts Forage. Any pearl (1,000 value or greater) casts Water Walking.
There is no limit on T1 unlocks during E.G. other than scheduling constraints. Several calendar-scheduled unlocking sessions and impromptu sessions are planned. A specific schedule does not exist at this time.

As GM Haliste stated, the Live Games are more closely related to raffle wins than games like digging and diving. Digging and diving games are automated. This is the reason they are grouped with a merchant/services pass instead of a games pass.
The following live games require a services pass to participate:
Salvaged by the Sea - A new scavenger hunt/puzzle game which employs some added logic components.
Sing Me an Epitaph - Create a poem to match various scraps of paper within the 15 minute time limit.
Anemone Anagrams - Unscramble the words to solve the puzzle (Fun Fact: Anemone is an anagram for "name one.")
Search and Rescue - A scored game of hide and seek with the residents of Caligos Isle. How many Caligots can you find?
Entrails Toss - Toss entrails and score points based on hit location.
Pick Yer Poison - Who doesn't love a drinking game? Be the last one to NOT get a bad drink.
First, second and third place winners will be escorted into the lighthouse to claim their prize. Note that there is more than one prize list; the prize list MAY be different for different games. Some prizes are able to be redeemed on the spot and some may be delayed services that go through QC.

>>Out of curiosity- how much higher are the DSD odds of getting an item from the T5/unique feeder vs the other non-fishing games?
Odds a much higher in comparison to games and digging. Odds are higher than Duskruin sewers for rarer items. Odds are roughly the same for a T5 as Delirium, but different. You can also boost your odds with items.
>>And if the regular games got a rate nerf too
Nothing at all is nerfed. In fact games and digging got a slight buff during the last Duskruin Dig.
>>It's always seemed to me that Gemstone has operated on some sort of budget system for items they are willing to give out at any given event / in any given year. I strongly suspect that the 'budget' for the sought after T5 prizes hasn't really changed vs. prior years so with roughly 4x as much opportunity (time) for people to win prizes it would make sense (in a warped Gemstone prize logic sort of way) that the odds of winning a T5 prize would need to be roughly reduced to a quarter of what it has been in prior years.
This is hogwash at its finest. Nothing at all like this exists, and never has.
>>Given that additionally it sounds like the same T5 pool of items also feeds into the paid event (DSD) it wouldn't surprise me at all ton find that the regular (silver based) games odds (for a T5) have been reduced rather substantially to compensate for both of these items.
T5 are game feeder quality. The same stuff you'd find playing the core game hunting (boxfounds). This hasn't changed. Ever. Before the T6 existed, some T6 items were always mixed into the T5 feeder. In 2014, which I consider the year that tipped the scale, some REALLY nice stuff was approved for the T5 feeder that really jaded everyone's feelings on feeder items going forward. So we separated out those jackpot wins into their own feeder and made them a bit harder to obtain than a T5.
>>Is it possible to share the number of unlimited style game plays that are considered a standard week? Basically, the expected number of plays point?
You can get WAAAAY more bang for your buck playing games and digging, but it will also have the silver costs and higher time elements.
It boils down to what do you want to get out of this. Do you just want to win really cool stuff? Do you need favor for the quest? Do you like incidental loot? Do you want X seashells?
Luck is also a major element in all this.
>>How much higher are the odds than a regular mini-game? Like 1.5x? 2x? Knowing would be helfpul as far as deciding where to put my time (and potentialy money)
It's different, but the odds at winning something like a jackpot are 25x better. Don't read that as common or more likely though.

(1) Some oldies but goodies: spider bags, Inner Eye candles, "ritual potion"s, some edibles that are probably considered gross by most people, "Small Blade" sheaths, and Rocket Sheaths (aka Spring Sheaths). The sheaths are set up capacity wise primarily for daggers -- because:
(2) Ritual daggers. This is a brand new script aimed primarily at ritualists -- I had both Arkati folks and blood magic users in mind when making them, but hopefully they appeal to other areas as well. The notices (NO, you CANNOT purchase those anymore!) on each rope will denote which daggers are able to be used in combat and which are more for show than combat.
Tier 1: Info
RITUAL DAGGER ITEM - ANALYZE INFO
This is a Ritual Dagger item. Really, this just means that it has verb traps geared toward performing rituals.
The item is dual-tiered: there are verb tiers, and then there are additional special ability add-ons. Nearly all verb traps allow for targets (use VERB my dagger WITH/AT (target)), and there are other factors that will introduce some variety. Currently there are 2 verb tiers and 4 special ability add-ons (permanent scarring, commune, intercession, and sacrificing). Generally, unlocking from Tier 1 to 2 will be offered on occasion as a specialized service; however, the add-ons will be extremely rare and should be considered a pie-in-the-sky type of service.
The Tier 1 verbs on this dagger are:
POUR - allows you to coat the dagger in certain specific substances from the food system and some of the old "ritual potion" items; or clean it.
PULL - to draw ritual circles.
POINT - traces a pattern over the skin.
WAVE - to draw patterns that "hang" in the air.
The daggers come in 3 different flavors: default, Arkati, and custom. This dagger is set up as default, and it cannot be toggled to the other flavors. The ability to allow toggling will be offered on occasion.
Aesthetic alterations are perfectly acceptable -- the dagger must remain a dagger-appropriate item. You are able to have both a long and a show. It is highly recommended that you keep any long descriptions brief.
Tier 2 Info
The Tier 2 verb info will show up in ANALYZE as:
The Tier 2 verbs on this dagger are:
POUR - allows you to coat the dagger in certain specific substances from the food system and some of the old "ritual potion" items; or clean it.
PULL - to draw ritual circles. You can also convert "circular stain" items to these circles.
POINT - traces a pattern over the skin at the low grip; temporary scarring at middle grip. You can POINT without a target at mid-grip to toggle the scar/trace patterns - there is hand differentiation.
WAVE - to draw patterns that "hang" in the air.
CLENCH - lets you toggle your grip on the dagger. In the right hand, this will change your grip level. In the left hand, this will change the "flavor" of the dagger and will let you access -- if you have it set up -- any custom wording.
TURN - purely fluff
NUDGE - allows you to cut your palm or someone else's palm, among other things.
CLEAN - lets you clean any coating on the dagger in a fancier way than pouring.
Random Info
Note above that CLENCH toggles between flavors if your dagger is able to toggle between them; if it isn't, then CLENCH just lets you change your "grip" (for verb output purposes) on the dagger.
Flavor Info
Flavors -- the Arkati-flavored daggers work off of the Arkati that the user is converted to. If you want your dagger to have messaging for an Arkati that you aren't converted to, you'll be aiming for the custom flavor instead so that you can set it up with what you want.
Toggling between flavors is not a tier-related thing -- it's entirely separate. Sometimes it might come as part and parcel of a Tier 2 unlock; sometimes it won't. Yeah, I know -- confusion. But... overall, it allows for more options than if this wasn't an available toggle.
Daggers that let you toggle between the 3 flavors OR daggers that are set up as custom only will give analyze options to see what customizations can be set up:
RITUAL DAGGER ITEM - CUSTOMIZATIONS
HANGING RUNES PATTERN (WAVE):
Requires an article, adjective, and noun for the 15/15/15. If desired, you can use a show as well that includes the liquid material. Must make sense for hanging in the air, and bear in mind that it will be made out of a liquid like blood.
This customization is not set up.
RITUAL CIRCLE/FLOOR PATTERN (PULL):
Requires an article, adjective, and noun for the 15/15/15. If desired, you can use a show as well. Must make sense for being drawn on the ground, and bear in mind that it will be made out of a liquid like blood or drawn in certain terrains like mud, dirt, snow, etc.
This customization is not set up.
SCAR AND TRACE PATTERN (POINT):
Requires an article, adjective, and noun for the 15/15/15 of the scar/trace pattern. Longs are okay to use. You can also specify an above-the-neck location and a preposition. Note that these will strictly follow guidelines and current alter/feature alteration rules.
This customization is not set up.
CUSTOM NAME: This is simply for designating who any rituals/prayers are being made to. It is currently:
not set
More Random Info
Note in the above that the "liquid material" is just a placeholder for the liquid that's on the dagger... it doesn't mean you're customizing the liquid itself there ;)
Water, whiskey, bourbon, and 'liquor' made from the food system (as well as one of the 'clear water' options from alchemy) will clean the dagger off. Currently blood, oil, ether, and grease can coat the dagger (the venom sold in G&GE will be able to, too -- later today anyway).
Temp and perma scars from this will currently show up in the tattoo area via LOOK. They generally won't function like tatts, though. I won't say more about what will or won't happen with these going forward, but they're going here instead of the feature fields (a la razors) for possible future reasons.
NUDGE is my favorite verb for these. By like oodles. I'll let you guys look-see what that's all about when some unlocked ones are running around, and if more info is wanted after there's been some exploring time, I'm happy to dole it out at that point.
The "sacrifice" add-on -- since it sounds semi-dire and probably needs a brief explanation: allows you to attempt to sacrifice yourself or a willing player target with your knife -- it can result in death, but it doesn't always. You can also summon a sacrifical animal, so to speak... for example, a goat... and use your dagger to sacrifice it in one of a few ways to your Arkati or however you have your dagger aligned. There's absolutely no mechanical benefit to this option, but due to its nature, it's currently heaped into 'not gonna happen often' area.
As mentioned in the initial analyze -- there are various factors that will introduce different messaging outputs -- sometimes this has to do with the target, whether the dagger is dirty (i.e. coated with something like blood) or clean, and in the higher tiers, if you have it held at a "low" grip or "mid" grip (or "high" for T3+), along with various other factors. As a result, it is extremely messaging heavy overall. I'll try and answer questions as they come up, but my suggestion is to play around with them, especially if you end up with an unlocked one (i.e. to Tier 2).
There will definitely be some unlockings to Tier 2 verbs. There will be either a perma scarring or a "sacrifice" dagger raffled during EG.
Also! (3) If you have a service pass, be sure to try the shark (you can thank Iceland for inspiring this gem) and the "lemonade" in the Cloud Niche area!
Not related, but the other lil' present will have to come later today rather than now, sorry!

From nearby, you hear Ordim yell, "Dont eat meeeeee!"
The shaggy mutt sniffs at a vine-painted mistwood keg, then grabs it in its teeth and greedily wolfs it down before anyone can grab it!

Everyone has their own look. Their signature style. Their own unique fashion. But it is also true that none of those things are ever complete without a piece of headgear. For one is not truly dressed without a proper hat. Thus you are invited to stop by the Hattery this Ebon Gate, just look for the burgundy ramie silk pavilion up on Harborview.
Here you will find hats of many styles and colors that will fit you just right. If you need something a bit more customized to your individual tastes, then seek me out to have one tailored to just the look you need. Even without my attention, you will find dozens of feathers of a variety of colors and looks to adorn your hat. You can put a feather in your cap, and one on your look all at one time. However if you are in need of something else to suit your hat, then you too will be in luck, as I will be offering my millinery talents to customize them for you.
So come one, come all, and find that final item to complete your look. Even if it was not one you realized you need. As no one should be without a proper hat. To live that way is just madness.
~ M, Milliner Plenipotentiary and Hatter Extraordinaire
The Hattery offers scripted hats for sale off the shelf. These hats are fully scripted as is, so no unlocking is required. They can be customized, and altering them to have a SHOW will be a service being offered for the hats (they cannot have a LONG). All the feathers for sale can be put on the hats for sale here, or any compatible hats (what are known as Ezza Toppers). The feathers can be altered (15/15/15) to be another sort of adornment placed on a hat. Alterations to both hats and feathers will be offered behind the curtain at the Hattery.

Sooo.... info!:
Murk Manor carries Igaeshian Reader Divining Supplies. https://gswiki.play.net/Elanthian_Divination:_Dark_Elves (https://gswiki.play.net/Elanthian_Divination:_Dark_Elves)gets into what an Igaeshian Reader is. If/when people start to get some escaping Igaesha, it should be pretty obvious that the symbols and some other bits and pieces -- like the whole concept of positional readings -- come straight out of a totally separate treatise written by Lylia.
The way this works with these items in particular is:
Demon is summoned into a vial. Demon will eventually escape through the glass, leaving behind smoke patterns as it makes its escape. Diviners "read" the smoke and interpret from there.
The 'designated' reader is the original summoner of the demon -- he/she is the one who is able to read the smoke patterns. But the summoner -- if skilled enough -- can also put the demon to "sleep" (i.e. in a suspended state) via WHISPER. Anyone can then wake the demon up from the suspended state -- the person who does so becomes the new designated reader and will be the one who is able to 'read' the smoke so to speak. Once a demon is woken from a suspended state, it cannot be put back to sleep again. The designated reader can also WHISPER to 'set' an intention or purpose or similar that will be noted on the vial's tag.
How long the demon takes to escape can vary pretty wildly... it ranges anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 weeks of in-game time, though it's definitely weighted to stay under 24 hours. Tier 2 vials allow you to set an "alarm" via RUB -- if you're in-game when the demon escapes, in many circumstances, you'll get a message that it has done so even if it isn't where you might otherwise witness the escape.
Once the demon escapes, the smoke patterns are left behind for a fair amount of time (though eventually they will dissipate), and you can GAZE to get info about what symbols you can make out within that residual smoke patterning; Tier 2 also lets you OBSERVE for further info. Prior to the demon being summoned, you have the option of adding wax and/or positional arc reading elements (beads or notches) -- having these in place will net you extra info about the smoke patterns. You can PULL the info tag off of the vial once the demon escapes. You can CLEAN the vial at any point after the demon escapes... if there are still smoke patterns in the vial, this will effectively destroy them. Most vials allow you to clean them out 15 times for reuse before they need a really thorough scrubbing (i.e. recharging) to use them further -- this would either mean having a merchant 'recharge' it... or a sorcerer sufficiently skilled in these matters can CLEAN it. There will be some vials that are unlimited and won't need that thorough scrubbing.
Tags: tags hold some basic information about the reading. Before a demon is summoned, empty vials can have their tags switched out so that you can muck around with their aesthetics -- there are tags for sale in the manor that let you do this (those ones are unlimited -- you won't run out of the tags); or you can use the same paper type used with sealing wax -- you'll tear it up into a limited number of pieces to use for tags. Once the demon has escaped, you can PULL the vial to remove the tag. The tag then lets you write on it to add notes, and you can also 'seal' it so to speak so that no further changes can be made to the tag's notes... consider this sort of like making the info official.
Everything else item-wise is hopefully pretty self-explanatory. Definitely utilize ANALYZE for information on the various supplies as needed.
As far as the whole 'sorcerer with sufficient skill' for putting already-summoned Igaesha to sleep and cleaning the vials -- this is based on two skill sets -- Demon Summoning ranks and Divination Lore ranks. You do not need to have Divination Lore to do this if you've got enough Demon Summoning. If you fall into the 'traditional' reader status -- female Faendryl sorcerers -- the barrier to entry on ranks needed to do these things is much lower. Currently doing either of these requires quite a lot of ranks in Demon Summoning at minimum, but it's possible I'll drop that down a bit... TBD. As a note, none of this has anything to do with your chances of success at summoning an Igaesha into the vial -- doing that just requires normal use of 725/Minor Summoning -- if you end up summoning an Igaesha while you have a clean, empty vial in-hand, it will get funneled into the vial.
Associated services during EG: unlocking to Tier 2; summoning an Igaesha into one of your empty vials and putting it to sleep for you for later use. The 'merchant' for this shop is Drezda.
This is entirely the fault of the EG requests thread from earlier this year -- the idea of making the vials live in game a la Ordim and some comments following that by a few others. It's definitely a niche type item, but I hope those of you in that niche are able to find some joy from using them ;)
