A few different people recently have said war is never needed. I think thats incredible because i think some wars accomplish a lot of good and would like to know how that good could have been gotten without war.
PS this is my first poll so cut me some slack if it doesnt come out right cause im not very good at this stuff.

I'd like to say no, but sometimes... Its a very thin line. Alot of modern day wars are no longer about what the older war was about...actually, sorry, religion, land and money have always been the cause of war, so no, nothing much has ever changed. Wahey for the evolved man.

The question is too vague, or rather the poll selections are too vague. Thus no selection from me.
In very rare instances war becomes a necessity.
To defend one's nation in times of invasion. Yes.
To defend a foreign populace from an oppressive government. Yes.
There are many rare instances where war is a necessity.
It all depends on the scale of the war and the reason for war.
When power (also includes religion) and resources are the prime motivator, the answer will always be no.

I believe war is an evil necessity.
Throughout history, conflicts have been dealt with and resolved through war. It would be great if there was another way, but it seems that the other ways aren't as effective.
It's great that we can all have differing opinions on war, and speak them freely. In some other countries you can be executed for speaking out against the government.
For over 200 years, our government has been making decisons regarding the welfare of our country. We've been to war for valid reasons, and also reasons many found questionable. Yet still we are the richest and most powerful country in the world. Why is that? Maybe because the people we have trusted to make decisons for us, have been making the right decisons?
It's great to question the war. Even I question the government. But when I'm asking myself these questions, I try to remember how lucky we are to live where we do, and have the rights we take advantage of daily.
I know I'm a bit biased, having lost one brother in Iraq, and still having another one over there. But it seems to me that instead of questioning the ups and downs of war, we should be supporting the troops that are already over there.
This IS our war, whether we want it or not, it's happening. There are guys over there right now, who are laying their asses on the line, because they believe they're making life better for the rest of us.
I know this is only my opinion, and I won't argue with anyone who has a differing one. It just seems to me that arguing the validity of the war, and debating over the rights and wrongs is some how wrong at the moment. It seems disrespectful to be questioning, while so many are working so hard, and dying. It's like saying that everything they're working and dying for is unimportant, and unnecessary. It's like saying the dead have died in vain.
Just my thoughts, for what they're worth.

And to be on topic: I agree with Klaive though I don't feel like justifying my argument so I wasn't going to post.

Eh?
Saying war isn't ever needed is like saying communism for the masses is possible.
Some people need to have their ass kicked to get a point across, just like some people need to be governed because they can't deal with having a status equal to everyone else.
Edited because I can't spell.
