Well its time for me to restock my food supply with some more good eats for the next week and it got me thinking...

What do you guys like to eat? Snacks, meals, favorite deserts, anything.

If you like pastas its a cheap way to go, a pound of macaroni and some spag and your good to go. Chicken is another great thing to have handy, roast it in the oven eat that then you have chicken left over for fajitas, cut up and put on salads and chopped up and make yourself a chicken salad sandwich.

Then my personal favorite for breakfast on the go, Breakfast pizza. That involves eggs crossiant rolls cheese and hash browns and sage sausage. Made in a 9x13 dish you have breakfast or snacks for a week. U2U me if you want the reciepe.

Good snack foods:

Linguine and cottage cheese, with a healthy dash of black pepper. The cottage cheese actually gets stringy and melty, kinda like ricotta and has a very mild, but very delicious flavor when hot. Easiest thing to cook on the stovetop, just make sure to fill the pot with soapy water after cooking or it'll take forever to clean.

Cheddar-filled jalapeno poppers. You're supposed to either deep-fry or bake them, but I just "kinda-deep-fry" them instead. 1/4 cup of canola oil in a small pot and 5 poppers on medium, turn them after around 2 minutes, fry another 2 minutes, and you're done. You don't need to clean the pot, just leave it on the stove for your next batch tomorrow. You can get around 3 uses out of that oil before you have to throw it away. I could live on those things.

Best gourmet snack that's actually not as expensive as you'd think: shrimp cocktail. You can buy a 2-pound bag of shrimp at Big Y for $14, and get a second bag free. So you have 4 pounds for 14 bucks, and between 1/4 and 1/2 pound is plenty for a mid-day snack or even a substitute for supper. Take out only what you need, toss the shrimp in a bowl of warm water til they thaw out, keep the rest in the freezer.

Hummus on toasted pita. Toss on some red wine vinegar, tomatos and lettuce, and you're good to go. Disclaimer: You have to find good hummus.

Marinate a turkey or chicken breast tender in italian dressing overnight and toss it on the grill (Foreman or otherwise), or in the oven. It's awesome with a salad, or you can toss it on some pasta with a bit of olive oil.

Of course, this time of year, nothing beats a good bowl of soup. Chunky Split Pea and Ham when I'm too lazy to make my own.

Jorddyn, hungry now

Pizza. And lots of it.

Oh, and Lasagna. I don't care if it's pre-made, or buying the materials to make it from scratch, I <3 Lasagna.

Elrodin, that reminds of my college times. Me and three friends had a huge apartment on campus, and we all had mini fridges from living in normal dorm rooms. The apartment came with a huge fridge, so we used that and had four alcohol fridges. You could tell who's fridge it was from the booze inside.

Can I come live with you for a while? :D

My fridge/cabinet are sadly lacking at the moment, as tomorrow is grocery day. But my favorite things in both at the moment include: orange juice, ferrero rocher chocolates, doritos, mushroom ravioli, my personal home-made mushroom cream sauce, and a few pints of Ben & Jerry's.

...Yeah, I never said I was healthy. *ducks*

SuperPretzel Frozen Pretzels
Fritos Jalepeno Cheddar Cheese Sauce.

Microwave both contents for 1:45

Delicious - better then getting them at the movies or in the mall (cold cheese, blech)

Um...18-pack of Guiness Draught
Half-consumed bottle of Goldshlager (I spell that right? I'm not getting up to go check.)
Various bottles of wine coolers that idiot friends have donated.
More types of shredded cheese than I care to categorize.
ALWAYS Gallon of milk
Weird various condiments I like to try, realize I hate, and never throw away.
Chicken
200 some-odd lbs of deer and elk meat.
Cucumbers
Salad-in-a-bag.....Ceasar
A myrad of rubbermaid containers sporting god-knows-what leftovers that I'm too afraid to open and dispose of.

I dig on salsa flavored tortilla chips from Trader Joe's. They come in a brown paper bag. (Makkah, please make a "Anything that comes in a brown paper bag is good" joke.) They make a black bean dip that it tasty when eaten concurrently with the chips.

Other snack items -- I love tangerines. They are cheap, long-lasting, and the skins come off 10x easier than oranges. I like gala apples (fiber keeps the protologist away). Triscuit triangles with cheese squares.

And nothing beats a 41 cent Toni's Burrito from your favorite grocers freezer isle.

Fridge . . . a half case of Coors lite, 4 Guinness draught (leftover from xmas), full case of Iron City beer, a pitcher of ice tea (love that cold brew), 2 gallons of milk, a half pound of salami, some kraft singles, and 3 full packages of buns. Looks like any other 22 year old guy's fridge I guess.

As of yesterday, the contents of my Magic Chef were something like

Half-full Bacardi razz
2 liters of Hawaiian punch
Pad thai leftovers
Several bananas/oranges
A bowl of Easy Mac that's been in there since November...

It's not in my fridge, but I always have cans of tuna and some pretzels on hand. Not too bad for you, and pretty economical.
